Hey Guest, want to add your say?

Anything that was prehistoric = dinosaur
Anything that was not a dino, was usless and died

I don't want to start another boring 20 pages + long debate about Spinosaurus weight, but I've good reasons to believe that Tyrannosaurus is just as heavy or heavier.

TK, I'm sorry, but you have no true studies to prove that Tyrannosaurus was matched in bite. 9-15 tons is higher than every other land animal, ever. Bulk, on the other hand is a risky game. There are other contenders.

Many Theropods didn't need a strong bite.
15 t sounds too much for a T.rex. Something closer to 6 tonnes sounds much more likely.

^ that's cause 15 tons is too big for tyrannosaurus

more like ~6.3 tons, sue was the largest confirmed, weighted specimen at 8.4 tons.

Pretty sure PK was talking bite when he said 15 tons, not weight.
Jack of all trades. Master of none

i don't see where he gets that figure from...

Geez, guys.
@Gigadino, I agree. It was a different hunting method. I didn't say that other theropods needed it. I just said no known dinosaurs matched it yet.
@Carnosaur. I said that as a maximum. It is a mximum. 6.3 tons seems a bit low based on harvard's studies.
@ TK, Ok. Just wanted to make sure you weren't stating a fact, but your opinion.

what harvard studies are you referring to?

Hi there Carnosaur I just wanted to say I really like your profile pic...I like snakes and other reptiles...neat.

it's a pied reticulated python :D
they're definetly some of the neatest animals out there, especially the color paterns they've got these days

@MrHappy: Yes, I know.
@PK: That's because T.rex's bites are stronger. Theropods like Allosaurus didn't need a such strong bite force, because of their big gape. Tyrannosaurids' gape was relatively small if compared to Allosaurus', but it wasn't small as many people say - it's still pretty big.

@Gigadino. Exactly! That's what I was meaning to say. Just not as eloquently as you. ;)

@ Carnosaur, One referring to the musculature surrounding the neck connecting to the bridge of the spine as well, factoring in other components. I can see if I can find it at work tomorrrow and PM if you like.
Btw, love reticulated pythons. Do you own one. I worked with one at my work! (I work at both a zoo and a museum.)

sure, i'm sure i've read it just can't remember the name :P
i don't own one but i've worked with the mbefore, they're really intelligient and their natural color patterning is almost jaw dropping

Also, what's the species of the last photo?

i think it's named the san francisco garter snake.
red tailed boas are my dream snake, they're beautful animals

Actually TK, i think it might be a san francisco garter. Closely related and both garters but I believe they are a bit different.

Very similar subspecies. Could be either.

pretty ure -- the san francisco garter has the scientific name - Thamnophis sirtalis tetrataenia,
while the california red-sided garter is - T. s. parietalis
