Fight!

The injured utahraptor limps along. She had been looking for a meal for her hatchlings, and, in short, got trampled by a larger utahraptor. Wearily, she stumbles into a Megaraptor’s territory. The Megaraptor is full grown. And in a bad mood. AND stalking her as she lay down, oblivious to the danger. 

The megaraptor is young and youthful, and grumpy. He lets out a low growl, but ends with a muted hiss as the utahraptor starts to stir. He decides to attack the disrespectful trespasser. Absolutely MADDENING! Not only did the stranger dare ignore the scent markers that marked the border, it had the gut to SLEEP HERE! Getting angrier by the second, and fueled by rage, he made his move and sprang at the intruder. 

The Utahraptor wakes up groggily, but with renewed energy. More than half of all that energy is knocked out of her as a 1.5 ton creature barrels into her side, bowling her over. She claws at its face and slashes its stomach, but it pins down all her limbs, and lunges for her throat. The raptor closes her eyes and waits for death, but it doesn’t come. She opens her eyes and sees the neovenatorid looking up, confused. Not stopping to wonder why, and not one to miss an opportunity like this, she takes full advantage and squirms free, then slashes its neck. Blood leaks from the wound, then the megaraptor collapses.

The utahraptor had been about to kill the hapless utahraptor when something whooshed right over its back. He looks and sees another utahraptor. He is beginning to despise the species. He lets go of the raptor at his mercy, just for a moment, which proves a big mistake. It claws him in the neck, and he blacks out, although not early enough to block out the pain of another 1.5 ton+ animal smashing into him.

The 1.5 ton animal wasn’t a U-raptor. It was another megaraptor. It was chasing the second utahraptor (the one who whooshed over the first megaraptor’s back) and could have made the jumpover mega1’s back… if it hadn’t REARED UP TO SEE WHAT HAD WHOOSHED OVER ITS BACK. Now the two were rolling and flailing around in a tangled mess, with the two utahraptors occasionally darting in to slash or bite. Then, much quicker than the two utahraptors expected, the megaraptor frees itself and pounces on the female utahraptor, flays open its stomach, and rips off its head. The other, a male, the female’s mate, is furious and launches itself at the remaining megaraptor, hacking at its head with its claws. The megaraptor sinks onto the ground then rolls over, trying to flatten its rival, but the raptor jumps off, then leaps back onto the megaraptor’s exposed stomach, and rapes its throat with his claws, plus slices open its stomach with its toe claw. The megaraptor stops struggling and goes limp. It is dead.

It has been a bad day for the male utahraptor. He has lost his mate and is covered in wounds, though luckily nothing serious. Miserably, he starts to drag the megaraptor carcass toward his hatchlings in his den. But as he walks, he gets the feeling he is being watched. He turns around just in time to receive a massive kick to the face, courtesy of the first megaraptor, which had only blacked out from blood loss. It has recovered and knocks him over, then sinks its teeth into the utahraptor’s belly. Before it can tear it out, the utahraptor, acting by pure instinct, kicks out and tears through the neck of the megaraptor with his sickle claw like a hot knife through butter. This time it is really dead.

AND THE WINNER IS……………………… UTAHRAPTOR!!!!!!!!!!!

Megaraptor was smart, fast and powerful. Utahraptor was less powerful, but slightly smarter and slightly faster. Its advantages, plus determination to avenge its mate and a pinch of luck gave utahraptor this victory.
