Theu have captured our imagination. They were fast, capable of reaching speeds of 45 miles. Having killing claws made for slashing. Highly intelligent and able to make plans. Though quite frail and having a weak bite. And having pronated arms or "bunny" arms. And most of all, scaly. Or so we thought.
now we know better. Dromeosaurids were undoubtedly fast but were not nearly as fast as we say they are. Thei killing claws were meant for stabbing rather then slashing. Though they were right about them being intelligent. But, they were not frail but are quite muscular, especially their legs and arms which were most likely heavily muscled due to their life style. Their bites were actually quite strong. Why? They needed strong bites to hang on to prey and break their prey's necks. Their arms were not pronated but facing inwards. Which seems more realistic, don't you think? Good god. they were NOT scaly but indeed featherd. It is been shown to us through the fossil records time and time again. It agitates me when people say they weren't featherd. They are closely related to birds which, from what I can see are featherd.
For those of you who want me to show evidence to support my theories, I will say I can't post links so don't ask.
i made this to show how dramatic the change in how we see raptors is.

MemberTyrannosaurus RexDec-02-2014 3:18 PMTYRANT KING - This was a very neat and insightful topic! Indeed, our perceptions of these animals have changed significantly over the years - broadneing and constricting as we learn more about them through what we can discover in the ancient Earth. Thank you for presenting this thought provoking bit of information! :)
