Lord of the Spinosaurs
MemberCompsognathusDec-01-2014 5:35 PMSo, D-Rex, you either love him or hate him, but either way, we all agree he is very powerful and has a lot of abilities. But, what exactly were those abilities? Well, that is why I made this thread. As we all know, D-Rex has DNA from 4 different animals, a T-Rex, a Velociraptor, a snake, and finally a Cuttlefish. All four of these animals are very unique and deadly predators. So D-Rex probably snatched there best abilities. So, I won't you all to tell what abilities those four animals put into D-Rex, doing each animal individually. So, heres what I think:
Tyrannosaurus
Tyrannosaurus will of course be the basic body shape for Diabolus, so it's probably the biggest contributor towards D-Rex. Though it will also deliver much more than its body shape. First of all, it will deliver those awesome jaws that wield a massive bite force, or as I like to call them, "The Jaws of Death". T-Rex will also probably deliver its binocular vision, which is very rare among large Theropods like that. And last but not least, that amazing sense of smell.
Velociraptor
Velociraptor will also contribute a lot towards Diabolus. So first of all, its delivering those relatively large arms and claws, a lot better than those of T-Rex. Next, it will probably deliver its very fast speed, which would probably be very useful for D-Rex if it really wants any hope of terrorizing Isla Nublar. Velociraptor may also deliver very fast reflexes to D-Rex. It will also of course deliver its intelligence to. As for the sickle-claw, probably not. It did not look like D-Rex had one in the trailer, but maybe D-Rex will be able to extend one of its toes.
Snake
The snake will probably deliver some unique and deadly abilitiesto Diabolus, though they don't specify what snake it is, so yeah. Though first of all, the snake DNA may give D-Rex a venemous bite, like cobras and a lot of other snakes. Secondly, it may give D-Rex the ability to extend its jaws like Pythons, Anacondas, and other constricters. Last but least, it will probably D-Rex a snkae-tounge so D-Rex not only will have good smell, but it will have the ability to taste the air.
Cuttlefish
The Cuttlefish will probably deliver the most unique, deadly, and weird abilities. First of all, it will give D-Rex the ability to change skin color (possible a reference to Carnotaurus in the books). Secondly, it may give D-Rex the ability to hypnotize or stun its prey, including humans. And the third thing it will deliver is that amazing eyesight that it has. The fourth thing I think it will deliver is its ability to morph its skin, adding to the camouflage element. The last thing I think it will deliver is multiple hearts, more specifically three hearts. I would personally love to see a scene where they shoot D-Rex in the chest thinking that they have killed it because they hit its heart, but then the two back-up hearts kick in.
Anyways, thats what I think D-Rex will be able to do, let me know what you think of it and and also don't forget to leave your own opinion on the abilities of D-Rex. I would prefer it if you did each of the four animals individually.

MemberCompsognathusDec-01-2014 8:13 PMGood Job, I just hope that this whole "Geneticallly Modified Hybrid" the D-Rex isn't too sy-fy like with it's abilities.

MemberCompsognathusDec-01-2014 8:57 PMHi Guys,
im new to this site but ive been an avid dino fan since i can remember. :)
Here are my thoughts about D-rex.
1. Pretty much everything stated above, but i do doubt some ideas on the cuttlefish part though. Because the point for D-rex is to show something bigger and scarier than the t-rex, traits passed to it might be external and might only contribute to its outside appearance.
2. Also, if you guys are interested i might know how it sounded like. :)

MemberCompsognathusDec-01-2014 9:18 PMT. rex:
Size, strength, bite. Basically what you said.
Velociraptor:
Speed (though its size will inhibit this) and intelligence. I also like the idea of a recrtactible claw.
Snake:
Muscular body, "snake-tongue", and flexibility. I am nearly certain it will have a venemous bite. Unhinging jaws would be cool. One possibility you forgot though, is a rattlesnake's thermal pits, which would give it a "heat vision" of sorts.
Cuttlefish:
Well for one, camouflage. I also like the three hearts idea, and think it'd be awesome if it could hypnotyze its prey.
And from all of these it somehow managed to grow thumbs...

MemberCompsognathusDec-02-2014 1:26 AMGood work. I really don't like the idea of DRex. There would be no reason to come up with abominations if you were able to simply recreate the original dinosaurs. I know why they have done it, for drama, and I hope they pull it off. If it's not believable it simply wont work. I suspect that the Mosasaur will probably have something to do with it's downfall.

MemberTyrannosaurus RexDec-02-2014 6:06 AMLORD OF THE SPINOSAURS - This is a very neat and comprehensive list you've put together - excellent work! I feel that you've certainly touched on many key aspects that will be present in the D-Rex's physiology, though the DNA contributor I'm most interested in is the cuttlefish. That aspect will lend this animal a very unique anatomy! Thank you ever so much for taking the time to compile and present this to us! :)

MemberCompsognathusDec-02-2014 7:21 AMit also seems to have high jumping capabilities considering it jumped up and slashed a 40 foot wall

MemberCompsognathusDec-02-2014 4:21 PMI really hope it doesn't have extreme jumping capabilities. That would be completely and totally ridiculous. Judging by the legs we saw in the trailer, this animal is similarily sized to the T. rex. An animal that size should not be able to jump, as it would cause more bodily harm that it's worth.
And no, the "theme park monsters" arguement doesn't work here. This is physics, not biology.

MemberCompsognathusDec-03-2014 6:51 PMI have question this dinosaur is created right having abilities of the other DNA codes so does this mean the d rex has powers?
Its natural dino or animal is created so hacing the aninals and Dino's abilities making this powers.
Also so the other Dino's that created they also have powers but when being born they have the parebts powers as their abilities.
Abilities is is what you born with but for powers is what you given
this isdrex other powers like great endurable and stamina possible but how high to take attacks and can hunt, fight, and runing

MemberCompsognathusDec-12-2014 4:40 AMthe cuttlefish is heavily rumoured to simply be a camouflage ability. Even tho I hate the idea of creating hybrids, I wish they had used species we hadn't previously seen. Maybe Allosaurus, Carnataurus or something more interesting.
