MemberCompsognathusNov-29-2014 5:02 AMSo, do you guys think that trained raptors are cool and awsome or lame and awful? I personly think it his freakin awesome that the raptors are "trained" and make them fight against the awesome diablous rex now some people think that it is a bad idea because the raptors are sort of like the villains of the jurrassic movies and making them "trained" and "good" would be a huge contrast between the movies. But the raptors are not trained or tamed like dogs but they are imprinting on tge humans as their parents. Much like modern day birds( they are closely related after all). And they just use that to their advantage and teach then a couple things and

MemberCompsognathusNov-29-2014 6:16 AMWell these raptors aren't good, they are trained to the same extent as maybe lions or tigers, they will kill Owen if he makes one wrong move. I think this relationship is really interesting and I love it!...I'm pretty sure they'll turn on him soon enough however, I predict we will be seeing some brutal dinosaur scraps before that though! Overall I think it's a fantastic new direction to go and I'm looking forward to it!

MemberCompsognathusNov-29-2014 7:44 AMWhat I want to see is the trainers treating the raptors horribly then the raptors gettheir revenge on them. Don't you think that would be awesome?

MemberAllosaurusNov-29-2014 7:48 AMI don't mind seeing the raptors working with a human, like lions would at a zoo.

MemberTyrannosaurus RexNov-29-2014 9:51 AMTYRANT KING - I believe the concept has potential - though it must be done with extreme care so as not to be silly. If we're made to understand that Owens is walking on a razor's edge between life and death with the raptors at all times, that will definately make the interactions between him and the animals much more interesting! :)

MemberTriceratopsNov-29-2014 10:40 AMI like the idea for "trained" raptors, especially given the danger factor. This seems like the next step in research on animals, because they are so intelligent. It's the human desire of curiosity and control that brought this on, and I fully understand why.

MemberCompsognathusNov-29-2014 11:35 AMIt's one of the ugliest thing I've ever seen. As Cau stated, it looks more like to a parody, rather than to a reboot.

MemberCompsognathusNov-29-2014 12:04 PMPersonally I like idea of trained raptors. I feel like the previous films (especially the third) have been hinting at this for some time.
"Smarter than dolphins" definitely seems to imply that they could be trained, and since it places them at least on par with crows and starlings (the smartest animals nigh humans outside of JP canon) it means that they would be capable of learning and completing very complex tasks, just as their feathered equivalents do in real life.
I think it would be interesting to have some sort of protests or some such against keeping captive raptors. It could bring in some of the focus on animal abuse as a result of owning genetic codes that was touched on in the second novel.

MemberAllosaurusNov-29-2014 3:38 PMIt seems like an EXCELLENT concept-if done well. Raptors are after all like other animals- they may be trained. However, like bears, for example, sometimes they can randomly retaliate...

MemberCompsognathusNov-29-2014 4:20 PMHonestly, I want the pack to get slaughtered except for one, who then turns on Pratt (as he's the easier prey) only to get shot/eaten/stomped. Something like that would redeem it for me. (I still think it's a cool idea.)

MemberCompsognathusNov-30-2014 6:16 AMAt first that was one of the major things I wasn't so sure about, however, after that last scene in the trailer everything has changed. People just don't realize how much room for bada**ery and epicness is involved in having "tamed" raptors.
Keep in mind that many people have died for their beliefs; it's actually quite common. The real courage is in living and suffering for what you believe in. -Brom-

MemberCompsognathusNov-30-2014 10:55 AMLike a lot of people when I heard that "Trained" Raptors may be in the movie I hated it. After hearing Colin expand on it a bit and seeing that trailer I'm all for it. Like people here keep saying, Pratt's haracter makes one wrong move and he's dead. Or at least that's how they should show it. Constant tension. They've done all they can with Raptors being the bad guys. This is the next step, and if done well will be amazing. Still think by the end the Raptors will be what people are running from though.

MemberCompsognathusNov-30-2014 3:46 PMidk yet, I'll be cool with it if they aren't completley "tamed" and kill some people and maybe fight the D-Rex, I just hope they are'nt helping the humans completley because that's like taking Alien and truning it into E.T, or Taking the T-Rex from the JP Movies and turning it into Barney.

MemberCompsognathusDec-08-2014 6:34 PMDoes anyone think that, as part of the training, that Pratt's character can kinda "speak" Raptor? I'm sure he would have heard about how Dr. Grant used the Velocitrumpet in JPIII...
I've been thinking about that since I saw JPIII , someone gaining "acceptance" in the pack as a member, by using pheromones and being able to vocalize as one. Then, using food rewards and perhaps a little discomfort to elevate themselves to Alpha status.
