BEGIN!
A lone female Dilophosaurus patrols her forest territory. She just ate, and after a short rest, she looks around. She is very alert, and she has had a bit of combat experience. Being rather young, she isn’t too strong. However, she’s still a formidable foe, and she will fiercely defend her territory from anything that attacks her.
Not too far off, a large male Monolophosaurus is hunting. His last meal was two days ago, and he is extremely hungry. After catching an insect, he walks towards another carnivore’s territory, attracted by the scent of a kill. He walks towards the carcass, and sees that it’s a small Styracosaurus. Almost half of it was gone, but it would satisfy the Monolophosaurus’s hunger for a while. He runs in and starts to wolf down as much meat as he can.
The Dilophosaurus sensed something invading her territory, and she moves towards her kill. She peers through a couple trees, and sees the Monolophosaurus eating her kill. She quietly hisses, and then stalks through some bushes. The Monolophosaurus hears the bushes rustling, but he doesn’t care. Eventually, the Dilophosaurus leaps on him, and he roars in surprise. He attempts to shake off the smaller carnivore, but it doesn’t work. Soon, he is able to shake her off, but her initial attack did some serious damage. The Monolophosaurus’s neck and torso is covered in bites and scratches. His wounds sting, but he must defend himself, and the possibility of two kills would be nice. He gives an ear splitting roar, and charges. The Dilophosaurus is more agile, and moves out of the way in time.
The Monolophosaurus crashes into a tree, and falls to the ground, disorientated. The Dilophosaurus sees this as an opportunity to attack, and she runs in to finish him off. She slashes his neck with her toe claws, but then the Monolophosaurus bites her ankle. The Dilophosaurus screeches in pain and surprise, and tries to pull herself free. Eventually, she is able to free herself from the Monolophosaurus’s grip, and steps back a bit. Her ankle is heavily damaged, which is a disadvantage. The Monolophosaurus charges again, and the Dilophosaurus isn’t able to move fully out of the way. He bites down on her tail, and the Dilophosaurus screeches in pain. However, the Monolophosaurus’s bite was weak, and, and she has a flexible tail, and is able to pull herself free. She runs into some bushes, and plans her next attack.
The Monolophosaurus soon gives up and begins eating from the Styracosaurus carcass again. However, he soon feels a sharp pain in his side, and turns his head. He sees the Dilophosaurus, slashing his side and biting his neck and shoulders. The Monolophosaurus shakes off the Dilophosaurus, but he is now a bloody mess. His sides, shoulder, and neck are covered in bites and scratches from the Dilophosaurus. However, he is determined to win, and slashes the Dilophosaurus’s shoulders and chest. Eventually, she runs a few feet back, and hisses at her adversary. The two roar at each other and charge. The Dilophosaurus runs out of the way and leaps onto the Monolophosaurus’s side. She bites and slashes, and the Monolophosaurus roars in pain. Soon, he shakes her off, but then he falls to the ground. He is extremely weak, exhausted, and covered in wounds. The Dilophosaurus walks up to him and the last thing the Monolophosaurus sees are the Dilophosaurus’s bloody jaws reaching for his neck…
The Dilophosaurus screeches in victory, and walks over to a nice, sunny area. She is hurt and weakened, and she can’t hunt too well with a hurt ankle, chest, and tail. However, in her territory, she has plenty of food to eat.
Winner: Dilophosaurus!
Her speed and agility, plus the Monolophosaurus's starvation, helped her win the first round of our second Battle Hand!
