MemberCompsognathusAug-31-2014 4:22 AM230 million years ago, it seemed as if reptiles were invincible. Then a new species came on the scene, the dinosaurs. They ruled the world for 160 million years, they ranged in all shapes in sizes from the tiny Compsognathus to the massive Aregntinosaurus. In this series we will be exploring the prehistoric Americas.
It's 76 million year old North America. It's the island of Laramidia. Laramidia is a cretaceous island, it is separated by a interior sea way. Because of the sea way, life here is different then anywhere eles on the planet. An example of this is Teratophoneus, they are Tyrannosaurs. They average 20 feet long and 1 ton.
This Teratophoneus needs to hunt but, not for herself. She has a family to feed. Their is a variety of possible prey. But, this time the Teratophoneus is in luck, she has found a Ginsu Shark washed up on shore. Ginsu sharks are the size of huge great white sharks, averaging 26 feet in length. The Teratophoneus eats some of the shark, then drags it back to her offspring. Teratophoneus, aren't the apex predators in this environment Lythornax is.
Lythornax are also Tyrannosaurs but, weigh 3 tons. The Lythornax watches as a herd of Parasaurolophus is grazing in a field. Parasaurolophus are big hadrosaurs they weigh 3-4 tons.
The Lythornax charges out of the forest, it slams into a Parasaurolophus, the hadrosaur falls to its knees. The Parasaurolophus attempts to stand up but, the Lythornax kicks it back down. The Lythornax snaps it's jaws shut on the Parasaurolophus bill, then snaped it off. Unlike most other theropods, Tyrannosaurs have teeth that are designed for bone crushing teeth. The Parasaurolophus bellowed in anguish, then the Lythornax finished the Parasaurolophus. Meanwhile, a battle is going on but, not on land. A Mosasaurus is battling a Ginsu Shark.
The Mosasaurus is nearly twice as long and 5 times heavier but, isn't as fast as the shark. The Mosasaur bolts forward, the Ginsu shark swims to the side. The Ginsu shark laches onto one of the Mosasaurs fins. The Mosasaur spins out of the Sharks grip but, has lost a chunk of its fin. The Mosasaur lunges at the shark this time the hit goes home. The Mosasaur rips off a piece of the Sharks dorsal find the water was murky, and red. Smaller sharks and Mosasaurs waited for their chance to get a meal. The Ginsu shark dives down, the Mosasaur, is confused as to why the Ginsu Shark left.
Then with a burst of speed the Ginsu shark hits the Mosasaur from the bottom side, jaws open. The Mosasaur twisted its way free from the Ginsu Shark then clamps down its jaws on the Ginsu Sharks Torso. It's over after that. Back on land the Teratophoneus needs another meal for her children. She has 3, the Teratophoneus has them with her this time so she can teach them to hunt. She spots a Diabloceratops it weighs 500 pounds.
As of late food has been rare. The Teratophoneus sneaks up on the Diabloceratops, to avoid injurie. The Teratophoneus grabs onto the back of the Diabloceratops neck. The Teratophoneus shook her head from side to side, the Diabloceratops neck snaped almost instantly. The Teratophoneus called her young they came over. The family started,to feed but, was interrupted, it was the Lythornax. The Lythornax weighed three times as much the Teratophoneus. But, the Teratophoneus has a family to feed.
Food is to rare, they must fight. The Lythornax started making a series of mock charges, until the Teratophoneus took the bait. The Teratophoneus lunged forward but, the Lythornax was fast. The Lythornax snaped its jaws shut on the Teratophoneus snout. The Lythornax shook its head from side to side. Eventually the Teratophoneus got free. The Teratophoneus head butted the Lythornax but, it didn't bother the larger creature. The Teratophoneus starts to leave off spring but,the Lythornax wants eliminate competition. The Lythornax picks up a juvenile Teratophoneus and eats it whole.
The Teratophoneus was furios now. She charged, the Teratophoneus slammed into the Lythornax with the force of freight train. The Lythornax stumbled back. The Teratophoneus slammed her jaws shut on the Lythornaxs neck, and used her bone crushing bite force to finish the Lythornax off.
The Lythornax may be the biggest of the two but, it didn't matter what mattered was the bound that the Teratophoneus had with her offspring but, soon both of these dinosaurs will die out but, from legacy new kings will arise.
