The Prehistoric Americas Episode Two: 200 MYA Arizona

230 million years ago, it seemed as if reptiles were invincible. Then a new species came on the scene, the dinosaurs. They ruled the world for 160 million years, they ranged in all shapes in sizes from the tiny Compsognathus to the massive Aregntinosaurus. In this series we will be exploring the prehistoric Americas.

The sun is rising in 200 million year old Arizona. Dinosaurs have taken over the plant. A Sarahsaurus is foraging for food Sarahsaurus are prosauropods.

Dilophosaurus is twenty feet long and 1000 pounds. Much larger then the 250 pound Sarahsaurus. The Dilophosaurus has no need to hide, it is faster and stronger then the Sarahsaurus. The Dilophosaurus charges at the Sarahsaurus, jaws agape. The Sarahsaurus stands up on its hind legs and turns tail and runs. The Dilophosaurus chases after the Sarahsaurus. The Sarahsaurus knows that the Dilophosaurus is faster but, not as aglile. The Sarahsaurus weaves through the trees, the Dilophosaurus keeps pace. The Sarahsaurus sees a cayon not to far, she views it as a good escape. The Sarahsaurus enters the canyon, the Dilophosaurus follows.

The canyon is narrow. The Sarahsaurus stops at a dead end. The Dilophosaurus gets ready to claim its meal. The Sarahsaurus doesn't have any hope the Dilophosaurus slams the Sarahsaurus against the canyon wall, then against the floor of the canyon. The Dilophosaurus finishes off the Sarahsaurus off with a bite to the neck. The Dilophosaurus digs in but, is interrupted by a series of shrieks. The Dilophosaurus takes his bloody face out of the Sarahsaurus stomach cavity and looks at the intruders. It's a pack of Coelophysis.

The pack is five Storng. Coelophysis are some of the earliest dinosaurs, there only ten feet long but, they have numbers on their side. The Dilophosaurus roars at the Coelophysis pack, they screech back. The Dilophosaurus is surprised by their confidence. The Coelophysis are willing to fight for this meal. The Coelophysis pack attack, they leap onto the Dilophosaurus. The Dilophosaurus is swarmed by them, the Dilophosaurus shakes and bucks but the Coelophysis are relentless. Then the Dilophosaurus notices a Coelophysis is in reach. The Dilophosaurus lashes out with one his arms. The Coelophysis falls off, the Dilophosaurus snaps the Coelophysis neck as quick as it can.

Now, the Dilophosaurus slams against the canyon wall with full force, the Coelophysis are dazed after the impact. The Dilophosaurus bucks all four of them off. The Coelophysis give up for now. The Dilophosaurus lets out a victory roar. In the jurassic jungles size does matter.

Right now Dilophosaurus but soon, even Dilophosaurus will be out competed, by bigger carnivores like Ceratosaurus or Allosaurus.
