MemberCompsognathusAug-21-2014 2:12 PMThis might be a repeat but i didn't see one.
How big do you guys think T-Rex could get. At the moment T-Rex is smaller than other dinosaurs like Gigontsaurus and Spinosaurus (unless it is proven to be smaller). My question is; do you guys hink T-Rex could get bigger? There is no evidence for this but there isn't any evidnce for it not to happen either. (by that logic dinosaurs didn't die 65 million years ago which they might have). How big do you guys think a rex could get?

MemberCompsognathusAug-21-2014 2:15 PMon average i go with 42 feet and 7.5 tons. and 18 feet tall.
my large t.rexes are 51 feet long 22 feet tall and 10 tons.
but we will truly and honestly never know. it could be even bigger?!

MemberCompsognathusAug-21-2014 2:20 PMI think T.rex could get bigger, just not In length. Tyrannosaurus usually are more robust than spino and giga. They could get up to eight tons in weight compared to six, seven tons of giga. So I think trex could have gotten bigger in weight

MemberCompsognathusAug-21-2014 2:40 PMExcluding the fragmentary giants that so many post about, we have enough specimens to get a potential 'average' for this species, which is quite the contrary with other species.
From the smallest adult(10.5 meters) to the largest based on decent remains(42.5 feet) we have a lot of variety at hand.
A basic average for tyrannosaurus rex would be 11.5 meters, 12 feet tall at the hip 14 at the top of the head, and 7 tons in weight.
"Sue" being the largest could really change at any moment, and as soon as Celeste - a tyrannosaurus potentially 10% bigger then Sue - is officially described, we may have a higher upper size estimate for the species.
10% bigger then Sue would yield ~ 13.6 meters, and 8/9 tons in weight.

MemberCompsognathusAug-21-2014 2:48 PMWe have a lot of topics on Spino, Rex, And Giga...as well as Carcharadontosaurus. I'm far too lazy to go and look for links though, but for all intensive purposes Giga was smaller then rex, spino, but was bigger then Carcharodontosaurus

Spinosaurus Rex
MemberCompsognathusAug-21-2014 3:04 PMI doubt it would get much bigger in any sense due to there already being a good amount of T-Rex specimens found and the estimations are all preety close, which means that was probably the average size. The largest one, as we all know, is Sue at 43 ft in length.

MemberCompsognathusAug-21-2014 3:09 PMI say it could get bigger. Al becuase we have a lot of same sized skeletons doesn't mean that is the actual average. That just means that is the size they get at before they die. Cannabalism?
Lord Vader
MemberTyrannosaurus RexAug-21-2014 3:10 PMI don't see why it couldn't hit 8 tons. Probably 7-7.5 tons average for a healthy adult.

MemberCompsognathusAug-21-2014 3:10 PMya we only found a TINY fraction of the whole species.

MemberCompsognathusAug-21-2014 3:13 PMyes, but we have around thirty individuals. Putting their sizes together, we can get what's called a "sample average" - basically an average on the animals we already have, as i've already stated in the past.
While we do have a small fraction of the probable millions of tyrannosaurus individuals that stalked our little blue planet, what we have right now gives us a practicable size for the species.
Another example of this is Allosaurus Fragilis, but i won't cover it here
Cannibalism in Tyrannosaurus rex has been documented pretty fairly. Here's a paper on the tyrant lizard king eating the face off of other tyrant lizard kings...: http://www.plosone.org/article/info%3Adoi%2F10.1371%2Fjournal.pone.0013419

MemberAllosaurusAug-21-2014 4:02 PMWell, I certainly think it's possible, but Carnosaur has explained pretty much everything. Of course it could get bigger, after all, humans are able to get bigger...

MemberCompsognathusAug-22-2014 6:42 AMNot so surprisingly, I agree it could get bigger. On average, T.rex could be 12-13 meters long and 7-8 tons. At most, about 14 meters long and 9-10 tons.

MemberCompsognathusAug-22-2014 3:35 PMCarnosaur did a pretty good topic on this. The conclusion is that Tyrannosaurus Rex grew(on average)11-12m in length, 16-18ft tall, and weighs 7 tons.
Now here comes the touchy part. The offical max estimates of Tyrannosaurus Rex is 13.3m long and a weight of close to 9 tons. That's pretty respectable.
Keep in mind that these are the offical chart as of date.
Tyrannosaurus is still in the Top 10 biggest Theropods. I believe it's ranked number 8.
