Your Favorite T.rex Specimen

I've been on a bit of a kick lately regarding individual T.rex specimens. So, today I raise a question. Which is your personal favorite? For me, it's the holotype...

Couple of reasons why. One is it's huge! At 11.9 meters long and 7.3 tons when alive, this is one of the biggest T.rex specimens we have. Also, it's the first one we found. Finally, it's MY T.rex. What's that mean? Well, the people of Chicago view Sue as their T.rex(though the residents of Hills City may beg to differ). AMNH 5027 belongs to the people of NYC. Well, since The Carnegie Museum of Natural History is practically in my back yard, I've kind of developed a soft spot for the holotype(specimen number CM 9380).

So, what is your favorite individual T.rex?

Ohh, that's tough. I don't have any dinosaurs on my "backyard. So i'd say the royal tyrell mount. As that's one of the two I've seen (don't know the name of the other one) and it was just plain scary.

Black Beauty because it's pretty cool and it's Canadian.

by far, my favorite has to be Black Beauty.

I mean, just look at it. Amazing in its own right

Living in Northern Indiana and being a quick 2.5 hr drive from Chicago, it has to be Sue for me.  She is the most famous T-Rex for a reason!  I always grew up loving Dino's, but I never got to go to the field museum until I was 18 years old (I haven't always lived in Indiana) and ever since, it has been my favorite museum!

I highly recommend going to any Dino fan, I mean, there's 26,000 sq ft of Dinosaurs there!  Sue alone is nearly worth the trip, you can stand there and just stare forever at how amazing a creature T-rex was.

Okay, I'm done haha.  I just had to relive my kiddo days for a second.

Awesome!  You will love it!  I've seen a lot of Dino collections and, so far, the Field museum has been the best.

Cool. I'll also be seeing the Black Hills Institute, Dinosaur National Monument, The Field Museum, and the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.

That'll be neat.  Are you going in to paleontology after high school?

I'd love to, but the odds of becoming a professional are very low. I'll keep it as a hobby ;)

I guess mine would be AMNH 5027 because it's in the neighborhood. It was planned for an awesome mount, but the I des was scrapped due to the fossil hall not being big enough. Here is a scale model of the planned mount:

To me it would have been beautiful too bad it was too big

I hear ya, I looked into it as well but it just wasn't very practical.  It is a fun hobby though, it keeps ya thinking.

I like Black Beauty and Sue.

(Sue is one of the two tyrannosaurus skeletons I've seen in my life.)
