Why so much hate about the first two sequels?

Till this day i see people writing bad stuff about JP2 and JP3. I find them both incredible movies (Except the scene on JP3 where the raptor says to alan "alan"). Also the Spino is just EPIC on JP3 and the whole san diego incident is dope :P I know they are not like the first movie, but if we don't support the movies (the fans) then who will? :P Soo i would like to know Why don't you like the sequels?

Most of us on these forums like TLW, so I can't rearly answer that one. The San Diego scene, perhaps the darker tone, I really don't know why people hated it.

JP3 however, is a different story. They killed Rex in under a minute of total BS, they gave no information on the Spinosaurus other than it's a big mother f*cker that can't do anything against wood, there was little character development, the characters weren't very likeable, there wasn't much of a plot, it was inconsistent, and there was no logic in parts (that phone surviving perfectly in tact after getting eaten).

Well, I never see much hate on TLW (it's my favorite JP film), but JP3 wasn’t a great movie. It was okay at best.

Personally, I give the first movie a 10/10. TLW gets a 7/10 and JP 3 gets 5/10. I liked TLW just fine and JP 3 was an OK movie, I just don't think it was a great Jurassic Park(if that makes sense).

I actually like TLW very much, but the scene where the ship crew are dead is just too confusing for me

and about JP3, I don't hate it either, I just dislike it because the plot is too shallow, and amanda kirby didn't die
the dinos are awesome though

For me  TLW really started to suck during the raptor attack in the tool shed when Ian' Malcolm's daughter's gymnastic routine kills the raptor. I dont know what happened in the book but I wasnt too crazy about dinosaurs leaving the island either.

The animatronics for the Spinosaurus looked horrible compared to Trex in JP n TLW

I think people's expectations were so high for the sequals becuase Jurassic Park was and still is the grestest movie ever created !!!!

I can agree with what jpjoe84 said as well.

I actually like the first two sequels, Lost World is great! But JP3 has its downfalls, many in fact, but I'm pretty sure they already told you. Now, I don't hate these movies, they are by far, better than a lot of movies I've seen, they're just not as good as JP1.

Youre fat, and I'm not sugarcoating it cause you'd probably eat that too.

I thought that The Lost World was just as good as the first one! The third was just simply okay.

Well i believe the dinosaurs on JP3 got improved a lot. the T-rex looked more realistic than the 1st movie and for me the battle scene (and for maanyyy others) is one of the greatest scenes not only from the franchise but from every movie out there! Let us not forget that it isn't that easy to make up a story that would bring the characters for the 3rd time to the park and steven was not even directing. now about the cast, i think the fact that Sam Neill is staring its just dope :D (ma opinion)... and of course every movie has its ups and downs!

p.s. the spino rules even though i am team rex ;p

I myself hate the fight scene with a passion. It was a thirty second BS fest. The result itself wasn't what pissed me off, but how it happened.

IN agree with Mr.H, Spinos don't have great bite force, and the bite on the neck that the rex gave him would of killed it

well Jurassic Park itself can't be realistic. Don't look deeper into details. At least they added "feathers" to the Velociraptors... They were as realistic as the could.

I personal love the trilogy and it's my favorite movie franchise next to The Dark Knight trilogy.

Jurassic Park is just magical. The dreams of seeing a dinosaur in front of your eyes. It had some flaws (like how Rex pushed the car into a cliff?) but it was still awesome.

NOW The Lost World was, in my opinion, a bit of a let down. Choosing Malcom over Grant was a big mistake IMO. Still love it but a lot of the stuff made no sense. It was still a enjoyable movie nethertheless.

Jurassic Park 3 was a bit of a let down as well. For starters, it was shorter than the first two! Haha but the action scenes were way better like the Bird cage part, plane crash etc. Plus it introduced a awesome new needed villain: Spinosaurus. Rex fanboys were honestly just hating on that movie because of that fight scene 80% of the time.

I'll have you know, JP 3 is 1.5 hour BS fest. Sure, it had some interesting scenes, but for the most part, it is total BS. They killed the character of Alan Grant, they had very little plot, and they had random, pointless CGI shots. On top of that, the whole replacing Rex deal was total BS in the way they did it.

Honestly, I'm fine with TLW, it's JP3 that Bugs me, for so many reasons. First of all, IMO spino was a terrible choice for a villian, for many reasons (fish eater, almost useless teeth) I myself would have preferd a Giganotosaurus, Carcharadontosaurus or even a Allosaurid of some kind for multiple reasons.

There pack hunters, instead of a one on one battle it could have been a 3 vs 1. Making the rex fans less disappointed and it would avoid controversy. And there similar to rex, but, not the same. They have a different bulid, different looking skull, faster.

And don't get me started on the plot.. It was terrible to say the least, almost no character devlopment.

There so many inconsistencies, spino can destroy a plane, a massive stell fence but, his weakness is WOOD! Trees and wooden doors are immune to the spinosaurus, if they ever recreate a Spinosaurus, and if I get to see it I'm bringing a stick for protection.

Honestly the biggest problem for ME with the movie is that pretty much evreything in that movie, Jack Horner decided. IMO, the only reason he's so famous is that he discovred sevral rex skeltons, a dinosaur he hates, for some unknown reason.

Rex fanboys were honestly just hating on that movie because of that fight scene 80% of the time.

All i can do is roll my eyes at this.

Plus it introduced a awesome new needed villain: Spinosaurus

And you tell me you aren't a spinosaurus fanboy? based on this, and your other posts... that is quite the contrary,

That movie was a poor cinematic representation of what a jurassic park film should be, end of story.

About the whole 80% remark; by saying that, you are implying that at the same time, 80% of Spino fanboys loved the movie because of that fight.

I personaly think Spinosaurus was a good choice because of its profile. Remember that the average person only knows Tyrannosaurus, Velociraptor, Triceratops, "Brontosaurus", and maybe Stegosaurus. Many large predators would make great antagonists, but most have a similar profile with a large head and relatively short arms. If you show the average person a picture of these dinos, they are going to call it a T. rex. Spinosaurus on the other hand has an unmistakeable fin along with a long snout and arms. If you show someone a picture of this dino, they won't know what to call it because T. rex has a boxier head and does not have a fin. With a touch of Hollywood magic that was given to all the dinosaurs it made a pretty cool movie monster. I also like how the dinosaurs were more colorful in JP3.

The Lost World was an average sequel to Jurassic Park. In my opinion they took way too many liberties with the Chrichton story, and modified it in the screenplay far too extensively. The Lost World novel was a great sequel to Jurassic Park...it didn't need spicing up.

Jurassic Park 3 is just a terrible movie from top to bottom. Awful premise. Even worse dialouge. A combination of actors with no believable chemistry. I feel bad for the people who did all that work on the Spinosaurus, only to have it used so poorly and become such a despised character.

When I first saw JP3, there was a moment...after the plane landed, and when the group was first being attacked by the Spino that I thought....this could be a good ride. It wasn't. As soon as the Tyrannosaur was killed...the movie basically nose-dived.

When I was in elementary school, JP3 was my favorite in the franchise. I loved the introduction to the spinosaurus, the pterosaurs, and since I was an 8 year old boy, I naturally loved the poop secene. But now, looking back on it, I see all the flaws people are talking about. The cell phone, and the character of Amanda Kirby. I still love it, I don't think it's BS like people are saying, but I can't deny it is flawed. Everytime I rewatch TLW, I love it more and more, it's now my second favorite after JW.

The answer is expectations. When you make sequels to one of the greatest blockbusters in cinema history, the comparison is going to be harsh. Some here may be too young to remember, but I saw the original Jurassic Park in theaters. None of the sequels were the event that the first movie was-- Even the new film. It was all that movie fans, kids and merchandising firms could think about for a year and a half. You couldn't escape it no matter where you turned.

The Lost World was at one point, and likely still is by a vocal minority, considered Spielberg's worst film. (They've clearly never seen 1941.) I think that opinion has softened over the years and the film is looked at more favorably by general audiences/critics.

Really, none of the sequels remotely tap the level that Jurassic Park is at, but that's okay. They're good movies in their own right. Not great movies, but fun and they carry on the franchise name with some respect.

I for one think The Lost World is the next best movie in the franchise while the other two are neck and neck for 3rd place.

I liked a lot TLW especially the San Diego scenes(and I would recommend a similar scene for JW sequel), JP3 make me just love the spino as kid, although the movie didnt affect me to change from Trex to Spino because I still love spino in the updated version, I was a fan of spino way before the movie I liked him from the time I got it's toys, but as many on the forum said it was not something majestic, it was a plot had nothing to do with the JP background. For me it was just a dinosaur movie with a poor fight and a JP character nothing more. I have to admit that Velociraptor design in JP3 was awesome instead that plain colour with big eyes crap in JW, JP and TLW, I wonder why they reject it in JW :/

TLW is my 2nd favorite and I like it. Like the 1st film, it had a few minor problems but other than that it's a decent movie. The dinosaurs are awesome, the effects are great, the action scenes are fun to watch, and it's darker than its predecessor.  Overall, it's an underrated film.  JP3 is a different story. The 30 second Spino vs T. rex fight sparked one of the most controversial arguments, the characters are idiots and don't develop, and some parts defy logic.

The only problems in TLW were a few plot holes.
