Dinosaur Fallout
Prologue
The Disaster
It was April 26, 1986. The day began like any other. Workers and researchers arrived to the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in the Ukraine and began their daily business. Many came from the nearby city of Pripyat. But then it all changed. Reactor 4 failed. What happened next would become the greatest nuclear disaster in the history of mankind. For decades the plant and Pripyat were sealed off from the outside world. Only government officials and scientists could enter the scene. What they didn’t know, was that the disaster had a far greater effect than they ever realized. Deep underground, creatures long thought dead began to grow once more thanks to the radiation. Worse than any nuclear fallout, the world was about to enter into a dinosaur fallout.
Chapter 1
The Awakening
As the sun began to rise on Ukraine on June 17th, 2026, a team of scientists from the Ukrainian government marched into the containment zone. The group entered Chernobyl, the old buildings and reactors looming before them. They began to spread out and go about their daily tasks. One of the scientists, an American named Matthew Phillips, made his way to reactor 4. This was where it all began.
As he entered into the old reactor building, he turned on his flashlight as it was somewhat dark. He’s here to study the current radiation levels of the most radioactive part of the plant. His meter started giving him readings and he began to write these down. That’s when he thought he heard something. He whirled around, but saw nothing. He shrugged his shoulders and went back to work. Must be the wind. Matt was writing another detail down when he heard an old canister fall over behind him. He slowly reached for the pistol holstered at his side and made his way over. There wasn’t much there except a knocked over canister and a strange print. He bent to examine it. There were two toes and what appeared to be a third, although it seemed shorter than the other two. He frowned at the site of it. He has no way of knowing what made the strange print. It didn’t make sense. Then he heard someone screaming. Matt dropped what he was doing and ran for the source of the sound, gun in hand. He exited the reactor and found another scientist slumped over on the ground. Upon closer inspection, Matt saw his chest was torn wide open. There were some prints near the body matching the one he saw in the reactor. Then more screams rang out through the air and gunshots sounded out. Matt zeroed in on the sounds and went to check it out.
Once he got there, he found another dead scientist and a guard with a serious injury on his arm. The guard spoke English, but was so shoken up, Matt had a hard time understanding him.
“It attacked us. It attacked us,” he kept repeating.
Matt didn’t know what “it” was, but he figured “it” was also responsible for the first scientists death. Matt inspected the injury on the guards arm. It was ragged and bloody, but that wasn’t what concerned Matt. What got him was the white foam inside. Whatever caused this was either poisonous or used poison. Before Matt could do anything, the guard started stumbling around, still repeating “It attacked us.” Then he tripped on the body of his counterpart and fell. Matt was only able to watch as the guard started to spasm and contort. Then he abruptly stopped and died. Matt wasn’t sure what was going on, but he knew he had to alert the rest of the team.
Matt ran for the checkpoint they came through, passing more bodies along the way. When he got there, only two other scientists were there. Everyone else was dead.
“What the hell is happening here,” Matt asked.
“We have no idea. We heard screams and gunshots, so we came here,” one of them said.
“It doesn’t matter. We have to warn the government that something strange is going on here,” Matt said.
As the three men turned to leave, they heard something. All three turned and watched as a nearby reactor started to crumble and fall. The ground beneath it started to give out as well. Soon, the entire structure was crashing down. Matt and the others took cover as the reactor collapsed. As the dust began to settle, Matt look in horror at the shadow looming in the cloud. He stood, frozen with fear, as the two red eyes locked onto him and the beast roared.
