Jurassic World raptor evolution story part 5, talking raptors

"How many words do you know?" asked Malcom, still shocked by the Matriarch being able to speak. "I have learned a lot of words, I have been learning what people are saying by watching them. Many people come here, so I listen to them speaking and I can talk like you" replied the Matriarch. "Whats your name?" asked Henry. "I don't have a name that you would understand, but I do have a name in my own words" answered the Matriarch. The Matriarch made a high pitched whistle and then a low bellowing sound. "That is my name" said the Matriarch. "How about we give you a name we can say" asked Henry, who was now certain the raptors were intelligent. "what name could I have, I know a few names. Harry, Henry, Ben, Daniel, Margaret, Doris, Mavis, Lily, Emma, Beth, Maria, Natalie, Janet and Mika" said the Matriarch. Henry thought, and then said "I usually refer to you as the alpha female, or matriarch. I'm thinking, if I made the name Matriarch shorter, I could call you Matri." "That sounds like a good name. Whats a Matriarch?" asked Matri. Henry thought of how he could explain this to Matri. "A matriarch is a head female that leads a herd or group of animals. Animals called elephants have a head female, and if a group of animals has a head female, it is called Matriarchy. Did you understand that?" asked and explained Henry. "I understood some of it, but I won't ask about each word, because it will take a while for you to tell me" said Matri. "How many of the other raptors know how to talk like us?" asked Malcom. "whats a raptor?" asked Matri. "A raptor is what we call you, and all the other ones like you" answered Henry. "Okay, I slightly know what you are saying. Another raptor who can talk like you is my, I don't know the word for it. "Basically, we both like each other, and have had kids together, and we have done that thing, whats the word? Its basically, we both did this thing, where we went on top of each other and moved around a bit. It gives you a good feeling, and it causes me to have kids. do you know what I'm saying?" asked Matri. Henry replied "Yes, I know what it is, its called mating, and when the raptor who does it with you is called a mate" answered Henry. "Okay, I know the word now. My mate knows how to talk a bit like you, and so does another raptor. I don't know the name, but I can say it like I do" said Matri. Matri made a sound like a car trying to reverse when its stuck. Henry knew what raptor she meant, and said "Is it the one who wants to mate with your mate?" "Yes, thats the one. She has been learning from what I have learned, secretly. She will never be my mates mate, unless she kills me by fighting for him. She is younger than me, so she won't be fighting anytime soon" said Matri. "Why did you talk to that kid?" asked Henry. Matri tried to remember, and answered "I wanted to know how people would react to me speaking like them, and after he went to tell you, I kept quiet around people. It was only when you told me you knew about everything I can do that I spoke" said Matri. "How did you know about the stick?" asked Matri. "I have a secret place where I can watch you without you knowing." answered Henry. "Show me where this is" ordered Matri. Henry and Malcom walked along the fence, and Henry showed Matri the rock where he could see her. "You said you watched me secretly from here, so is there any places where you saw me mating?" asked Matri. "No, I wouldn't want to see it" answered Henry.

Malcom checked his watch, and said "Matri, we have to go now, because other people might hear or see us talking, so we should leave. We will talk to you later." "Ok" said Matri. Henry and Malcom walked off, and Matri walked back into the centre of the enclosure. She was happy she could talk to someone now, and even though she didn't know all the words, she could communicate. She met her mate, and they nuzzuled each other. She told him, in her own language, about talking to Henry and Malcom, and he said he would be interested in talking to them too. She walked over to her nest and she felt a buldge around her waist area, it was time. Five minutes later, the buldge went away, and Matri looked in her nest at her newley laid eggs. She looked to check how many there were. There were four eggs. Matri looked at the eggs, and she couldn't wait to tell Henry and Malcom.
