It was 2020 when I first went to Jurassic World. Well, now that I'm 21 I payed to go myself. I'll never forget that visit. They say you don't forget first times. Your first kiss, your first car, and so on. I can tell you from experience, it's true. I'll never forget the first time I drove a truck on the road. It was a two tone red and grey Ram 1500 V8. It was a 4x4 too, nice truck all around. I was eight when I drove it with a hay wagon down my little back road to the field to help pick up hay. I was going 80 KM/H, my little brother was still in a booster seat at the time, and I was imitating how my dad drove; arm out the window, right hand on the wheel. It was the best two minutes of my life at the time. This isn't the point of the story though; this is about a different first time.
I was standing at the Tyrannosaurus paddock. Tyrannosaurus was my favourite dinosaur since my obsession started. All the books and movies had T-Rex in it. T-Rex was always the biggest, meanest, toughest predator to ever live. It still was if you ask me. When I was kid watching The Land Before Time, I always enjoyed the T-Rex scenes. I've always been a sucker for a villain. I couldn't believe what I saw as I watched the Tyrannosaurus pair. I guess I wasn't surprised as much as I was impressed. I knew they things were living creatures, but I didn't know it was possible for two dinosaurs to love each other so much.
Both Tyrannosaurs were the same size, about eight and a half tons in weight, give or take a quarter ton, and they were about forty two feet long. They were walking around the paddock, looking around, and then back to each other. They weren't paying attention because they were focused on each other, and they bumped into the plexiglass wall. They stepped back, and the male looked at it. The female grunted and rubbed her head against his neck. The male calmed down as he faced her and they bumped snouts before continuing.
The Tyrannosaurs reached where I was standing after a while, and they knew I was there. They both looked at me, curious. They bent down and attempted to sniff me. The male tried to push me, but he hit the plexiglass instead. He looked at his mate for some support, but she just nudged him. She knew about the plexiglass, and she showed him by bumping into it. The male saw and understood he couldn't get to me, so he ignored me and lied down. The female lied down next to him, resting her head on his chest. They both a deep breath before dozing off. I left the paddock, but I would be back tomorrow.
The next day, I went back to the Tyrannosaur paddock. They were still asleep when I got to where they were, but a few minutes later, the male began to wake up. He looked at his mate. She was still asleep, and her head was still on his chest. He rested his head on the ground and waited for her to wake up. When she did, they went to the river that flowed through their paddock. They lied down in the cool water. The female was up to her shoulders in water, and the male stood over her, giving her some shade. She looked up at him, and he looked down at her. They maintained eye contact for the better part of ten minutes before a cow was released into the paddock.
The male nodded at the female and walked toward the cow. He killed it and brought it to the river. He let his mate eat first, and then he finished it. They licked the blood off each other's jaws, and they stood up and walked to one of the trees in the paddock. They lied down underneath it and rubbed necks before going to sleep. They fell asleep pretty quickly, and I went somewhere else. It was a hot day, so they probably wouldn't do anything else.
