"Kelmayi Lizard "
Length: 10 meters
Weight: 3.5 tons
Era: Cretaceous
A nocturnal predator that roams solo, yet takes on the largest animals it can. They gulp down carcasses at suprising speed, an adaptation to avoid loosing a kill to another large bodied carnivore. These animals are a force to be reckoned with. They attack with a ferocity that leaves its target a bloody unrecognizable mess by the end. They have never been featured by Ingen, but their natural behaviors have been categorized.
Angaturama
"Noble"
Length: 10 meters
Weight: 3 tons
Era: Cretaceous
Ingen field scientists noted that this spinosaur, and Irritator were one in the same. For the longest time, there were thought to be distinct species. The only distinguishing feature is the small yellow nasal crest on "Irritator" females. This is now known to occur in Angaturama females, and various growth stages of Angaturama show the development of the yellow nasal crest. The Ingen field guide had to have a couple pages ripped out, needless to say.
Here we go..
The stars had aligned, and it was the perfect night for the Angaturama to go on the hunt. He ascended from the river bottom, planting his reptilian feet on the firm island soil.
He was large by species standards his very presence forcing all living things into a hushed panicked silence.
In his conquest of this prime stretch of bayou, he had to defeat a large bull Torvosaurus. That in itself is a feat that demands respect from other carnivores.
The thought struck the Spinosaur, as he searched for a duckbill dinner, that he wasn't the only predator in the vicinity. And indeed a massive carcharodontosaur was nearby, he had just not realized it yet.
The screams of the Pterosaurs flying overhead were sweet music to his ears… their presence meant a carcass was nearby. He kept an eye on the bat-like creatures.
Then, that symphony was torn asunder by a disruptive note, one that shook the ground . From behind, a massive form lurked. The full moons light cast an impressive shadow of the Kelmayisaurus over the terrain, The Spinosaur regaled the “lesser” lifeform that stood before him with derisive scorn. What did this creature hope to accomplish?
For the last few hours, the Carcharodontosaur had been attempting to pinpoint the Angaturama's location. The scent of the fish eater had practically sent him into a frenzy. And now there it was, lording over bayou like he owned the place.
The Kelmayisaurus… was quite irritated.
He roared yet again, barely a touch intimidated by the Spinosaur. To the Carcharodontosaur, the Angaturama was just another opponent; just another animal he had to slaughter. With a few more thunderous steps, the two were eye to eye, the shark toothed lizard and the noble one. The Angaturama hissed visciously, sending blood to his muscular ridge and turning it a violet shade. The male Kelmayisaurus was less than impressed.
His retort was no less sophisticated than a ramming headbutt to the spinosaurs abdomen. He buckled under the sudden attack, his softer belly imploding upon itself as he reeled backwards. The noble One smashed both of his enormous feet into the fertile soil, to finally put a halt against the Carcharodontosaurs ramming speed. He put all of his strength into it, and finally did they slow down. The angaturama – with the advantage of his longer, more prehensilelimbs – smashed his razor tipped arms into the Kelmayisaurus' skull.
It didn’t deter the shark toothed lizard, but the claws digging into his vunerable neck did the trick. His attack momentarily dazing his adversary, the Angaturama unleashed a set of wild slashes and bites. The giant lizard was reeled back slightly, but he took those hits like the champ he was. He hadn't survived on Nublar for almost three decades for no reason
Another slashing blow came vertically, aiming to smack the Carcharodontosaurs brain out of his skull. But the theropod, a seasoned brawler like no other, ducked and twisted his body slightly…
So he could bite at the Spinosaurs throat. He landed a bite, his teeth piercing the crocodilian hide like a hot knife through butter. Another twist, of the neck and head pulled a large wad of flesh from the Angaturama's neck region. Was this enormous powerful Spinosaur...truly so great and powerful?
The Kelmayisaurus turned his head, his bloodthirsty stare sending daggers Angaturama's way. But his enemy had more tricks up his non-existent sleeve, it seemed. With suprising agility, the Spinosaur lurched forward. He planted his crocodilian like teeth into the Kelmayisaurus' snout. His teeth scraped bone, the sickening echo resonating in the predators ears. The Kelmayisaurus pulled back, and the pain was immidiately allieviated. But not by much. He backed away from the spinosaur, head bowed in submission..his bulk merging with the blackened grove of trees.
The noble One looked on, he had yet again sucessfully defended his bayou home he turned to resume his hunt.
… only to find a massive black shadow making a beeline for him. The Carcharodontosaur had circled around, running around to come in for an attack on the Spinosaurs side.
He launched himself, feet first, colliding with the Noble One. The two went down, the Carcharodontosaur on top ripping away at the muscular ridge set on the fish eaters back. The Angaturama kicked and clawed feverently, but being on his side, he couldn't land a blow. The Spinosaur had somehow muscled its way to an almost prone position and was about to throw the shark tooth lizard off of him.
He wasn’t having that.
With a deep breath, the Carcharodontosaur began to rip at the Spinosaurs throat. He grabbed the fish eater by the back of the neck, and shook him like a rag doll. He spinosaur clawed frantically at his attackers skull, leaving huge gouges right under the vunerable eye and nostrils. The Kelmayisaurus kept his grip with a bull dog like tenacity...Until it was finally over.
The clouds finally uncovered the full moon, revealing the carnage that the two dueling theropod shad unleashed. The bayou banks were littered with blood, the soft sticky mud now a taperstry of claw marks and foot prints. The Kelmayisaurus bellowed a roar of victory, there was a new predator in these parts.
Winner...Kelmayisaurus!
Author's note: One of the classic "Carcharodontosaur/ Spinosaur" Match-ups. This one was exceedingly fun to write. The Kelmayisaurus had an attack strategy, and the element of suprise towards the end. Another really close one that could of gone either way.
Odds: 55-45 in favor of kelmayisaurus

When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade. Tell life I don't want you're damn lemons, and then squeeze them into life's eyes!
