"Heavy Claw"
Length: 10 meters
Weight: 3 tons
Height: 2.75 meters
Era: Mid Cretaceous
Baryonyx is a mid sized spinosaurid that, unlike other spinosaurs, has a strict diet of large bodied fish. It spends its entire life in the shallow waters of streams and swamps, with the occasional exception to mate or sleep. Baryonyx is remarkably strong, and has been seen lifting 3 meter onchopristis clear out of the water.the bite force is suprisingly weak, however. They use their huge sickle-like thumb claw in aiding catching fish, but it is also a self defense weapon. When there is a severe drought, Baryonyx tends to eat young iguanodon, but this is the only time they ever do. These spinosaurs are hyper territorial and will attack and kill anything that wanders in, but they have never been observed eating their adversary.
Magungasaurus
"Majunga Lizard"
Length: 7 meters
Weight: 2 tons
Height: 1.8 meters
Era: Cretaceous
During its native time period, Majungasaurus was the apex predator. It used its bone crushing bite to take on the sauropod Rapetosaurus, and a variety of smaller plant munchers. On Ingens islands, it's a completely different story. These abelisaurs are common prey for various large bodied carnivores. Notably Eocarcharia, whos diet mainly consists of this animal. The reason for this is not fully understood; more observations by field scientists would need to be conducted. Majungasaurus, despite being a highly preyed upon species, thrives on Nublar.
Here we go...
The sulfur fields of Nublar had always been a wasteland to the islands residents. Animals only went there to die it seems, for the skeletons of hundreds( if not thousands) of dinosaurs littered the grounds. Today, The bull majungasaurus took the lethal risk as he walked into the field of death.
He was on the search for food; having lost his territory to a ridiculously large Tyrannotitan meant he did not have access to his favored prey, the Parasaurolophus. Having experienced the brink of starvation, and the sulphur fields before, he came here in hopes of finding a carcass.
The sulphur came up through dark fissures in the rocky ground, the vapor a sickening yellow color. The odor was just as bad. The abelisaur shook his head feverently in an attempt to clear the vapors from his sinuses. From what he could see, skeletons were bountiful but none with flesh on them were rin the vicinity. Boldly, he pressed further into the fields of death.
He came up over a large rocky outcrop, and found the corpse of a young tyrannosaur. It was no older then two, and it was seemingly left to die by its parents. Regardless of how it got there, the Abelisaur stooped down and snatched the carcass from the rocky ground. He almost passed out when he scooped the body in his jaws, for the vapors were more concentrated at ground level.
As he turned around, he saw the blurry outline of another large bodied carnivore.
It was a male Naryonyx, who was also pushed to the brink of starvation from the heatwave that had settled on the island. He too had come here in hopes of finding a corpse, and seeing the Majungasaurus pushed him into a fury. Whether it was the vapors, the hunger, or pure instinct, the Spinosaur went on a full out assault.
He bull rushed the Majungasaurus, snapping his crocodilian snout on the abelisaurs skul and wrapped his clawed forearms around each side of its neck. He dug his claws in around the spinal cord and pitched back and forth violently, trying to throw the abelisaur to the ground.
He remained steady on his feet, all that fell to the ground was the tyrannosaur carcass. He shook his head back and forth, causing the Spinosaur to loose its grip. He lurched forward and that sent the Baryonyx toppeling to the ground. Acting in instinctual defense, the abelisaur now went on the attack. He bit down near the ribcage of the spinosaur, crushing a few ribs with his massive jaws.
The Baryonyx cried out in agony, his incessant writhing landing a kick to the Abelisaurs jaws. He released his grip, and the Spinosaur got to his feet. The two massive predators engaged in a stand off, neither breaking eye contact, neither moving. The Majungasaurus raised his foot uncertainly after a few minutes of this stand off of life and death.
That's when all hell broke loose.
The Spinosaur sprang forward, coming in at an angle...he had a good grip on the Abelisaurs neck. He put his arms on both sides of his death grip, and attempted to wrestle the Abelisaur down to the ground. His talons dug into the tough reptilian hide on the Abelisaurs head and neck.
Out of nothing but fear, the Abelisaur thrusted all of his weight in the direction of the Spinosaur. It had the desired effect; the Spinosaur lost his grip and stumbling away. The Majungasaurus turned to capitalize, rushing at the unbalanced Baryonyx.
The Spinosaur had recovered quicker then expected, though. And when the Majungasaurus came running at him, mouth agape, he slashed his arm diagonally, hitting the Abelisaur right below the left eye. His claws left a gruesome looking gouge, and the attack had basically put the abelisaur at a hault. He stared at the Baryonyx, and began to step backwards. His head bowed in submission, he turned to find the young tyrannosaur carcass. The Baryonyx turned and walked towards where his old river had once been, for there would surely be some sort of food there..
Winner...Baryonyx!
Author's note:
Both predators were of equal size. They were both apex predators of their respective eras, and this one came down to the nitty gritty end. At the end of the day, Baryonyx had more lethal dentary(at least when it came to this scenario) and longer arms to grasp with. They also came in handy with thwarting the attacks of the Abelisaur. While Majungasaurus was more heavily built, it wasn't nearly as agile enough or able to maintain an efficient attack to kill the Spinosaur.
Odds: 55%-45% in favor of Baryonyx

When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade. Tell life I don't want you're damn lemons, and then squeeze them into life's eyes!
