AdminIndoraptorJun-01-2014 11:40 PMOkay, so as some of you know, I've been privvy to some information about Jurassic World's script. Of all the scenes that have been described to me, I figured the mention about the Visitor Center would be both extremely positive and also the least damaging to the film's secrecy. I thought it was expected anyways, but I guess not. Anyways, I made a article announcing the information and immediately was met with some hostility by the film's co-writer Derek Connolly and Ty Simpkins' sister on Twitter. Derek was nice enough not to call us names and hate on us though.
I want to say that I purposefully left out certain details in my article in order to preserve the surprises of the scene associated with the Visitor Center reveal. I thought by doing so, the leak could generate a ton of positive hype and word-of-mouth for the film without ruining any surprises, which I thought was needed since JoBlo's leak left many fans unsure and skeptical.
My plan backfired at least with Derek and Simpkins. Any of our members will know that Scified aims to aid film promotion and development - not diminish or ruin it. So, I put out an apology through our JW Twitter account, apologizing to Trevorrow & Connolly.
Regarding any future spoiler-ish details, I'll be keeping many details under wraps and won't be revealing much for a while now. Our goal here isn't to bait traffic with exclusive leaks, our goal is to get people pumped and hyped as much as possible for Jurassic World. So, I'll be planning any future leaks more carefully and will ensure not to directly "leak" any plot spoilers.

MemberCompsognathusJun-01-2014 11:55 PMWell, I would think with describing it vaguely would be fine like you did it, as many other fans, (myself included), are still extremely worried about this whole D-Rex fiasco. With so many dinosaurs to choose from, they decide to make their own. I hope they explain it in a way that makes sense. Anyways, just glad that they were atleast kind to you when chewing you out.

MemberCompsognathusJun-02-2014 1:07 AMHonorable, Chris, honorable.
The biggest thing to me for this film was the new dino, D-Rex. That's what I've been waiting for, is the plans for the new dino. At first, I thought it'd be giganotosaurus, but I finally know what the dino is. The only other thing I want to know from the film is what D-Rex looks like, that's the only spoiler I'll see from now on. An image of D-Rex.
Youre fat, and I'm not sugarcoating it cause you'd probably eat that too.

MemberCompsognathusJun-02-2014 6:05 AMI appreciate you keeping this info under wraps, Chris. It was the honorable thing to do. I for one was pumped about the visitor center announcement - what kind of tension did you receive from that? I thought that announcement would, like you said, increase hype!
Just out of curiosity, can you disclose your source for the information you are talking about, or would you prefer not to? I totally understand if it's not knowledge for the public.
Thanks for your active devotion to this site, and keep up the good work!

MemberTyrannosaurus RexJun-02-2014 6:37 AMCHRIS PICARD - That was exceptionally big and forthcoming of you to issue such an apology. It says something quite positive of your character. I agree with what you posited: this site should certainly be for the promotion and extolling of films - not their complete spoilage. What you presumed to do was in no way inherently negative - it simply had an unforseen and unpleasant ramification. You've done nothing untoward - so keep you chin up! :)

MemberCompsognathusJun-02-2014 8:02 AMVery admirable Chris, very admirable. I don't blame you for keeping leaks under wraps. I just wished other sites would do that.

MemberCompsognathusJun-02-2014 3:48 PMSometimes, The right thing, Is what others View as wrong...
I personally feel like you did nothing Wrong Chris. Of course, I wasn't there During so, Yeah. This is still Nonetheless very Honourable.
I feel that the Visitor Center Rasied Questions and Hype on the movie. Although it may have been revealed too soon? It was posted relitively soon after Colin adressed the leaks.
I feel like there was a more Polite way for the Situation to be Adressed by Derek, Perhaps maybe with a please and not a swear but hey. I'm just a single person in this world.
Keeping spoilers under wraps, IN todays day and age, Is Impossible. Because of the "First world" Countries we live in, You can never trust another human, on something like this... Genertaing Bad Rep. for a Fan site Dedicated to the franchse That Did something Very Miniscule Is not the right course of action.
Plus, The old Visitor Centre still being there... Was fairly Obvious, The only question was if it was demolished or not, Due to the amount of People who Died at the park, It would likely have had to be kept up as a memorial/Gravemarker.
...
All that aside, Sometimes, Swallowing your Pride, Is the right thing to do.
Very Admirable, and Honourable.
