VS
Live Action Filming
(Example of Life Action, Involving Props, and/or Animatronics, Actors or Puppeteers can be used.)
Jurassic Park, did more then just Shead light on Dinosaurs... It Brought foreward a recent Technology, To its best... CGI.
The key to a Perfectly Balanced Film, Is to have both, But balanced...
But, Is JW Treading Dangerous territory? I ask you to look at the following evidence.
Case: 1:
This is nearly Impossible to build today. Not to mention it would cost Patel all his silver dollars (Or Should I say Pennies? *Canada Recently got rid of the penny, due to the price of Copper...*)
In this current day and age, If you don't have more then a day to build it, CGI it. In the First JP the tech was still fairly new. All of the sets, Were real. Speilburg kept true to it up to JP3, Although JP3 Had more CGI Then either of the films.
Now Colin has never really used CGI In any of his films, so there is obviously a sudden problem here. He doesn't know what is too much, and what is too little.
Now, there is other members from some of the original films working on it aswell But They are a minority, and if history has taught me anything, its the Minority, is usually ignored.
Case: 2
The Mono Rail... :I Most of this is planned to be CGI...
I find that colin has the sword unbalanced... Too much CG, And not enough Live action...
So, Now based on what I've provided... What do you think? Does colin have enough CG to Live Action?

As long as the CG is believable, I'm fine. I do like the live action as well, but perhaps the most epic scene in JP was CG. The live action was very impressive as well, but that roar man, that final roar was like a scream from another world.
Jack of all trades. Master of none

MemberCompsognathusMay-19-2014 3:13 PMThere needs to be a ballence between the two. Still CGI can do a lot people can't and as long as it smoothly transitions from one to the other, giving a sence of reality then it is fine to use a lot of CGI.

MemberCompsognathusMay-20-2014 6:42 AMI personally like CGI a lot more than Live Action since the movements are a lot more realistic than when you use Live Action and modern CGI is almost as realistic as Live Action, so personally, I don't have a problem with him overusing CGI.
Keep in mind that many people have died for their beliefs; it's actually quite common. The real courage is in living and suffering for what you believe in. -Brom-

MemberCompsognathusMay-20-2014 10:51 AMThere needs to be a balance between the two in terms of shots and landscapes.
Not necessairly in building design or dinosaurs.
The sweeping, ALL-CGI landscape shots, ala SW Episodes I,II,III, introduce the least amount of believability.
When its done right, you don't pull out so far from the content, you keep your shots close and personal, and CGI the hell out of the background to complete the illusion.
When it comes to the dinosaurs, I'm in favor of 100% CGI, done well. Maybe its just me, but I can easily see the difference between live action and CGI dinos, and when a scene is a mix of both, it ALWAYS looks inconsistent and I dlislike that.
Even the best work ever done on this, which was the T-Rex attack on the Explorers in the original JP, I can still see the difference. And that is probably the best execution of puppet/CGI combo of all time. Fast foward to JP3 and the Spino and Raptors, which saw a mix of both, looked horribly inconsistent during their scenes.
Please, let him do 100% CGI dinos. The technology today is so good they will look their best if the CGI artists can control it all.
