Jurassic Park: The Game Warden's Story Chapter 5
Stocking The Armoury
Hammond and Muldoon walked to Hammond's office. Muldoon was holding the baby Tyrannosaurus while they walked, and it was quickly developing a bond with him. They reached the office, and Muldoon sat down on the couch in the room while Hammond sat behind his desk. Muldoon set the Tyrannosaurus down, and she curled up on his lap and went to sleep.
"John, what kind of supplies were you thinking?" "Tranquilizers, ropes, things like that." "How about a few guns?" "What kind of guns were you thinking?" "A few shotguns, an assault rifle or two, and maybe a sniper rifle." "I can do that, just keep the budget under one hundred thousand. The computer is over there." "Alright. I'll give you shout when I got the guns I want." "Sounds good Robert."
Muldoon set the Tyrannosaurus chick on the couch, and he then went on the computer and started searching. He found a few weapons of interest, including a Franchi shotgun. The dual mode capability got his attention, and after a little research, decided on getting the SPAS 12 for his shotgun. He then looked for an assault rifle he would like. He settled for an M4. Last, he looked by for a sniper rifle. He found a company that makes .50 calibre snipers.
The company was working on a new sniper rifle. The sniper rifle was a ten round, semi automatic, Bullpup .50 cal. The Barrett M82A2 was being worked on and set to be released in 1987. Muldoon emailed the company using his personal email, and a short time later, got a response stating that they had a prototype that they would love to have him test, and as long as he gave updates on the rifle's performance every week, he would be allowed to keep it.
Muldoon found Hammond and told him about the guns. Hammond purchased about twenty of each, with the exception of the M82A2. Two weeks later, all the weapons arrived with about one thousand rounds of ammunition for each. Muldoon put all the weapons in a safe, and grabbed one of each and brought them to the central watering hole, which was yet to be completed.
If you have any questions, just ask, I'll answer them. A Bullpup gun is a gun where the ammo loads behind the trigger. It reduces overall length while maintaining a decent length barrel.

MemberTyrannosaurus RexMay-17-2014 4:32 AMNice. If I wasn't getting a Hatsan with a top folding stock, a Mossburg would be my second choice. They're cheap, they're customizable, and they come with some pretty cool accessories. The roadblocker comes with a muzzle brake that looks like something off a .50 cal, and the chainsaw comes with a cool grip. Just to list a few.
M14? That's awesome, those things are so cool.
I've got a Remington 870, a 16 gauge that's pretty old, a little Winchester pump .22, and a Savage Arms MKII .22 bolt action.

@Something Real: You have a twin sister?
Keep in mind that many people have died for their beliefs; it's actually quite common. The real courage is in living and suffering for what you believe in. -Brom-

MemberTyrannosaurus RexMay-18-2014 5:10 AMA Sharps? You mean the rifle they used to take Buffalo at 800 yards back in the 1800's? Those things are so cool. They're a .40 cal if I'm not mistaken. They fire a 700 grain slug at just over 1000 FPS, and Billy Dixon used one to kill a native chief at over a mile to save his hunting party. No scope, no ballistics computer, just plenty of experience.
Hatsan is a brand that makes rifles and shotguns. This is the particular model I'm looking at. It weighs about 7 pounds. Heavier guns absorb more recoil than light guns, which is why you'd actually be better off getting a gun in the 7 pound range as opposed to the 4 or 5 pound range (they actually make shotguns that light, and it wouldn't matter to me, I can fire a 12 gauge with one hand).

MemberTyrannosaurus RexMay-18-2014 5:51 AMYou're welcome. It does make sense that a heavier weapon would have less recoil because it would be (for example, this could be any calibre) 50 grains of power exploding and pushing 7 pounds into your shoulder, or it could be pushing 5 pounds into your shoulder. Same weight, pushing different amounts, it would need to push harder to have the same kick as the 5 pound rifle/shotgun.
