She knew through instinct her nesting area had been obliterated. The need for water drove her, for she knew there were once pristine patches of river in her domain.
An agonizing half mile trek revealed what she had already known, they dense green foliage she had once rested on was now baked into the Charcoal grey ground. The river that once held the life sustaining liquid, was now filled with deathly black solidified lava.
She let out a low whimper.
Her home lay in ruins, not a single living organism to be seen any where. As she surveyed the devastation, the Pristine purple mountains surrounding the valley caught her eye. They were dotted with large patches of lush green, the huge sequioas that hung over head like towering giants.
Instinctively, she knew these giant things needed water. And the large patches of green on the mountainface indicated, to her at least, water was plentiful up there.
The journey would not be an easy one. Miles of solidified lava, dotted with dead trees, lay ahead. The steam was still clearly visible rising from fissures in the new crust.
Taking one look back at the nesting site, she began to walk to the mountains. Some where behind her, A loud high pitched shriek echoed. It was cut off mere seconds after it began. The sound rung in her ears; surely something was being slaughtered.
That was a sound she would not soon forget.
The Lythronax bite wound had lessened in bleeding, but now burned like acid. The trickling of her own blood on her reptilian skin annoyed her a great deal.
That's when the feeling of being watched set in.
She spun around, eyeing the barren terrain for the culprit. She could not see anything,
but felt the presence of something lurking.
Something huge.
She quickened her pace, wanting to leave the area as fast as possible.
