The one left behind: The story of Gojira2K: Chapter 1

Here is the first chapter for my story. Now I warn people who have read the prologue, that this does not exactly follow the the tone that that prologue made it seem the story would be like, but it is important to understand the rest of it. Also I must thank Something Real for proofreading. If someone would like to proofread the next chapter, please PM me.

     It was a hot summer day in the former Colorado forests.  The sun was shining through the trees, a large breeze rustling the leaves. It was a day of celebration for the Gojiras. The 2000^th member of their race was to hatch that day. He was a symbol that their race was the true dominant species on Earth. That they were the true rulers and that nothing could bring them down.

     The day was alive with celebration. Games were being played be the juveniles, the adults were buzzing with the excitement of hatching. The herd was nervous, waiting for the hatching. The juveniles just didn’t care, they were just happy to be playing.

     The mother and father were the celebrities of the herd. The father, the 500^th, was the patriarch of the herd. The mother, 487^th, was the matriarch of the herd. They were responsible for keeping the herd safe from the other species of genetically engineered dinosaur that were created by the humans. They were a constant threat. Even though they knew they were the most powerful species, if they built a big enough army they could take over the Earth as the dominant species.

     The herd went silent. They were listened to something. Suddenly someone shouted that the egg was hatching. Everyone started running to the nest were the egg was. Once they reached it they all gathered around and waited.

   The egg was shaking, small cracks started to appear. The cracks were getting larger. A nose was piercing out of the top of the egg. Soon his head was completely free and his hands were emerging. He used his hands to break the front of the egg open. He crawled out of the egg as the bystanders were watching. As they looked at him they had a frightening realization. The famed 2000^th Gojira was a runt.
