Tyrannosaurus vs Spinosaurus, who wins?

so plain and simple, tired of walking on eggshells when it comes to this thing.

So i made this topic.

If you state "mine is larger, therefore it wins" or something of that sort, your comment will either be deleted or out right ignored.

Let's have a fun, clean debate.

Let's begin with Paleontologically accepted size ranges for these animals. Not fanboy estimates. These are of course averages.

Tyrannosaurus - 13 meters, 7 tons, 17 feet tall(top of head)

Spinosaurus - 15 meters, 6 tons 19 feet tall ( top of head) 25 feet tall (top of sail)

Now...my personal belief is that Tyrannosaurus Rex would win this 6/10.

Spino just has that sail, that stands 6 feet off its back. An easy target for a attacking predator.

Of course...Environmental factors, behavior, etc. would certainly determine if there was even a fight. 5/ 10 times, no blood would be drawn.

However, when it gets down and dirty, Tyrannosaurus is more powerfully built, has those large banana shaped teeth, and has the highest recorded bite force of any theropod - that has been scientifically acknowledged -.

My reasons for Why tyrannosaurus wins the majority of the time, don't agree? let's go..

Let's have a fun, clean debate folks....go at it.

Sounds pretty damn good. Rex is the most heavily built carnivore in General, so it only makes sense that it is the heavier of the two, and likely the heaviest theropod.

Ah, now this should be compelling. :) I've a feeling the T-Rex is the biggest and meanest bloke in the dino-kingdom. Ergo it should possess the most potent arsenal and pose the greatest threat in an encounter. This beastie was (arguably) the most successful and highly-evolved theropod the world has ever seen! Perhaps we could assume that it earned that distinction by being capable of swiftly dealing with any and all challengers. :)

I like your Unbiased "no bullshit" "Seriously guys, no BS" Spin on this...

Now, I've said this before, Comparing the two, There is, a tactical advantage to rex... It is more evolved, HOLD YOUR HORSES... I'm not bloody done yet!! There? good, Okay...

Spino lived 112 million years ago, to 97 million years ago...

T rex lived 65 Million years ago. 32 million years... is a Pretty long time...

Lets compare shall we?

Picture, A modren day destroyer (I'm not one for the navy, So If you don't know what it is, please google it...) Thats the T rex...

Now Picutre the USS missouri, Or another battleship. Good? picturing it? Thats gonna be our spino...

Now, The battleship, Strong well built... But primitive... The destoryer, Is cutting edge, Smaller, But can still pack one hell of a punch... More weapons, Smaller, But strong.

"Size matters not" -Yoda

Exactly...

The battleship, Can still fight, she was built to destroy and kill... She can win if she wants to...

The Destroyer, Is built to defend, and destroy... Better equipped, Some flaws...

The battleship, looks like a winner, right off the bat. However, She is old, She's missed years to evolve (32 million to be exact) By the time all her guns ahve fired and reloaded (One 900 pound shell, 12 MAIN GUNS, 24 smaller battarys)... The destroyer had already delieverd 42 shots from her main battery, 6 Surface to air Missiles, and blasts from many other guns...

4/10 Battleship wins.

4/10 Destroyer wins.

2/10 They sink each other.

The thing is, They're evenly matched... just like rex and spino, What spino lacks in weaponry, she makes up for, in brute strenght and integrity. What rex lacks in size, she makes up for, In force, and weapons...

One day, We should just respect these beasts, for who they are, Not what we want them to be...

They would've never met... just like the destoryer and battleship... The destroyers ancestors could not have taken her on (Thats for another day)... But now, Destoryer can... But Battleships, are all but gone from the world...

Just like rex and spino, 'Cept Their both dead...

They lived on different continents and different times...

Lets just let, and let be... Respect the beasts, Peacefully discuss them...

And enjoy, what the earth created, Years before man...

indeed Something real, most predators it lived with were much smaller then it. Te othe rTyrannosaurus' though, that's an entirely different issue.

We have fossil evidence of Tyrannosaur face biting and some pretty gruesome wound that had...and hadn't... Healed, leaving their mark on the bones.

Two bite-marked toe bones from Tyrannosaurus rex. Close-up views of the bite-marks are on the right. From Longrich et al., 2010.

An animal that can take a bite from a Tyrannosaur is a tough animal indeed.

On the other hand, Spinosaurus lived with some huge predatory animals. All carcharodontosaurs, which were nasty in their own right. However, we have no evidence these animals ever confronted each other; it appears spinosaurus was mostly a fish eater. I've covered that in past topics, though.

What I find funny, Is people can't take it when their told, "Spino Ate a fair amount of fish" But rex fans can take "Rex was a scavanger"

I think both statements hold truth, And lies...

Nothing evolves the way it does, for no reason, I'll admit, the fish were pretty damn big back then... But, a dinosaur wouldn't grow THAT big to hunt fish on down in the Crik... (Spino Probably did hunt some fish... BUT, do crocs eat just fish?)

Nor would won grow that big to scavange... (Rex probably did scavange, But, It wouldn't grow that big to fend off a scavanged kill...)

*Facepalms*

*Watches a Spinosaurus facepalm*

*Watches a T. rex attemp to facepalm and fail because his arms are too short*

If its last man standing, then T. rex wins. Hands down. No contest. Spinosaurus was deab millions of years before T. rex was even born. So, T. rex was the lad one standing before it ever came into existence. That sounds right, right? No.

Lets just say thfew more wars have been fought about this than anything else in the history of the planet. To quote somebody, maybe Paden, maybe Rex Fan, "Your beating the dead horse," or should I say, tsake dead theropods. Stop this madness right now. Unbiased no BS my......

No animal can lean on one food item the entirety of it's life, those species would become extinct in a heartbeat.

Spino evolved into what it is to avoid competition with the large land based theropods it lived with (sauroniops, Bahariasaurus. Carcharodontosaurus..)

Like all spinosaurs, it's specialized for Fishing.

Your point on the crocodile is 100% correct.

They eat fish, have jaws suited perfectly for it, but they commonly eat zebra, wildebeast, Impala, etc.

Tyrannosaurus being a scavenger is still kicking for some reason...huh..

Delta, you can never say T-rex "Clearly wins." T-rex and SPino are both DEAD. Even all of the info we have on them, any day our info on how these creature lived could be proved wrong.

delta, do you have an issue with my post?

If its last man standing, then T. rex wins. Hands down. No contest. Spinosaurus was deab millions of years before T. rex was even born. So, T. rex was the lad one standing before it ever came into existence. That sounds right, right? No.

i never said this..

No animal wins hands down, 10/10 times any way 401. Finally, a spino fan enters the ring..

also, we are gonna drop this" both are dead, we never will know" thing...the point of this is to discuss what would happen IF they fought..

Well, I just think Spino would win. Now by win I don't mean completely tear Rex apart into pieces, just simply beat Rex in a fight.

I think rex would win if it got its jaws anywhere that can break bone or deliver a fatal wound. if spino didnt get injured and was able to take its claws to make the rex die of blood loss it would win. Also rex had bacteria in its mouth. One bite will cause an infection

i rhink rex wins most of the time because of its weaponry

Well, I would say why but then I would get some Rex fans trying to prove me wrong saying that I have to have sources, etc. I am honestly afraid to give my opinion when it comes to Rex and SPino.

In an actual combat Scenario?

In a place frozen in time, Where Pangea still exists, and somehow, Rex and spino live (Pangea breaking is kinda the reason they both exist)

Off the top of my head...

I'd say... And this is really rough... Maybe, 48 - 52, Spino Vs Rex...

It's the "what if" factor people like to discuss. "Rex and Spino are both dead and never would have met." Thank you very much captain obvious. What if they did meet, if they did fight? That's what people like talking about. What if Hitler didn't invade Russia? What if the Japanese plan worked on Pearl Harbour? What if the Japanese didn't attack Pearl Harbour?

well, the point of this is to get why you think spino would beat rex out there. And, you kinda do have to have sources and what not, they make your claims valid. Welcome to the world of debate, 401..

Please people, we are the civilized people on scified, and in my opinion, we are all acting like a bunch of monkeys. ( me included, and I take responsibility that I might have helped cause it) of course, give an infinite of monkeys and infinite of time and an infinite of typewriters and theyed make a Shakespheare. However you spell his name.

all I'm trying to do is jay stop commenting and just leave this thing alone. Its been said time and time again. Also, I was being sarcastic when I sthat that T. rex would win hands down. Not the derogatory kind, but the kind where I'm just joking.

what are you even talking about?

No body is out of hand, no body is acting uncivilized.

Honestly, if you don't want to read this post, don't reply.

However, if you want to discuss this, like i so badly want to, let's go.
