MemberCompsognathusApr-06-2014 6:58 AMQuimby was very scared surrounded by the Mapusaurus pack, but she was also a bit curious as to why they weren't killing her right now. One of them leaned down and gave her a nudge, and having the survival instincts of a dinosaur, she lashed out at the snout. The Mapusaurus recoiled, and almost went for a strike, but the leader of the pack withheld him from doing so. In the bushes around the Mapusaurus pack lay Tyler and Katrina. Ethan was back at the nest and the mother and son went to see what was going on here. Katrina knew that if the Mapusaurus killed little Quimby, then there would be another Oxalaia to take the place of Hera. That would give the Mapussurus undaunted rein of the territory, and while she could keep away from 1 Oxalaia, she could hide from a Mapusaurus pack forever. Katrina made a plan to get Quimby back to her mother, and told Tyler to step out of the bushes a tiny bit. The first Mapusaurus begins argue ing with the leader, and the pack gets involved. Quimby try's to get out of the way, and then sees a little snout poking out of the bushes. Curious, she goes that way, as it is in the same direction as her mother, and the safest way to go. She wanders into the bushes to find Tyler. He is much smaller than Quimby, and Quimby thinks that she will have him for lunch. Then the plan goes into action. Tyler starts running, and Quimby follows. Katrina went ahead and left a trail for Tyler to follow that would lead Quimby right to her mother. It also featured obstical s that would slow the Oxalaia down enough so she doesn't catch the young Megaraptor. They get about half a mile away before the Mapusaurus realize that Quimby is missing , and they follow the scent of the Spinosaur, running at top speed. Tyler is getting tired, but based on the trail signs, he can tell that he is getting close. Instead of a simple scratch mark or scent, there is upturned trees, obviously by Hera. Quimby recognizes it even more. She went hunting here often on her own, and she knew that her mother would be close. Then, the Mapusaurus pack caught up with them. Quimby and Tyler didn't realize it until a huge shadow passed above them, landing in thier path. It was the Mapusaurus pack leader. He was obviously infuriated by Quimby's escape, and now he's here to kill. Before he has time to do anything, the ground shakes. Tyler is terrified, the shaking ground means that there is danger close. Quimby is very frightened too. The Mapusaurus pack is confused, if not a bit scared. Then out of the bushes, Katrina runs and picks Tyler up, carrying him to safety. The Mapusaurus are still confused, and only look. That is, until a shrill, blood-curtailing roar pierces the air. If the Mapusaurus had boots, they'd be trembling in them. Hera the Oxalaia is here. She is visibly older, and has many more battle scars than ever. She is also bigger, having killed and eaten everything in her path. When she sees the Mapusaurus with her daughter, that maternal instinct of a mother seeing her child in danger turns on. She goes from angry at Katriana, to "I am hell on steroids with a bazooka, and you have my daughter" the Mapusaurus run, Hera, runs faster. She catches one, the one that tried to kill Quimby off the bat, and drove her giant claws into its spine. Paralyzingly it, and perfectly alive to feel pain. She slams into another one like an asteroid, and it goes flying to hit a tree. Which, unfortunately for it, falls on top of the Mapusaurus. The leader gets special treatment. The Oxalaia bites down on its neck and contorts her body so that the neck is twisted and the body sent flying. It lands with a thud, and tries, failing, to get up. She will deal with that one later. One gets away, for now. She will hunt that one down personally later. The other one, well, it trips over a log. Lucky for it, because Hera only stepped on its face, killing it. Unlike the others, which she maimed and made sure had a very rotten day.

MemberTyrannosaurus RexApr-06-2014 8:11 AMThat's fine. I do the same, but I have it written well ahead of when I plan on posting them. I had LS written halfway through TS:JP, and I'm at least halfway through my next story, and LS hasn't even started yet.

Keep in mind that many people have died for their beliefs; it's actually quite common. The real courage is in living and suffering for what you believe in. -Brom-
