MemberCompsognathusMar-30-2014 4:02 PMNow keep in mind, you'll need a good understanding of my first story, The Fight To Survive, to really get this one. So here it is, The Fight To Survive: Synca...
Prologue
An Old Friend
Long before the battle with the infamous Scarface. Long before his first encounter with Storm. Long before any of these things took place, Synca was born. A smart and brave dinosaur, Synca was like no other Nanotyrannus. Here is his story. From beginning to end, through the good and bad times. Like Storm, Star, Vega and so many others, Synca had to fight to survive.
Chapter 1
New Blood
As the sun rises in the late Cretaceous sky above Texas, life begins to stir. The air is warm, humid, and salty due to the nearby gulf. In the shade of a large tree, a nest sits undisturbed. The eggs occupying it are about to hatch. One egg begins to shake. A crack forms across the surface. The tiny life inside is trying desperately to break free. Finally, the little dinosaur’s nose breaks the shell and takes in it’s first breath of air. The egg begins to split open and the little dinosaur exits the egg. He shakes his feathered body and looks at the other eggs. They too begin to stir. He is Synca, the firstborn.
About half an hour later, three more of the seven eggs have hatched. Synca has one brother and two sisters. His brother is Fog and his sisters are Pratum and Linea. Synca and his siblings begin to stretch their legs and start to become more alert. Pretty soon, they are starting to play a little bit. Nanotyrannus’ are active dinosaurs and play is vital to help keep them fit. Synca quickly demonstrates his superior strength and intelligence. With this intelligence comes a burning curiosity. The smarter you are, the more curious you are. Synca starts to head toward the edge of the nest. His sisters watch him explore and Fog decides to join his brother. The two hatchlings attempt to leave the nest, but they quickly become tired. They are not used to this quite yet. So they return to the center of the nest and join their sisters in a nap.
The siblings sleep for a solid two days. When Synca awakens, he’s ready to explore. As he leaves the nest, Pratum decides to join him while Fog and Linea stay behind and play. Synca and Pratum look back to see they already walked over a hundred feet from the nest, a considerable distance for ones so small. As they leave the clearing the nest is in, they become more cautious. They are entering a world they do not know. They aren’t that far from the clearing when something happens. While exploring, Synca hears a branch snap. His head is now on a swivel trying to locate the source of the sound. Pratum didn’t hear it and is curious as to why her brother is so alert. Being less than a foot tall makes it difficult for Synca to locate the source. He attempts to sniff out the perpetrator. He’s too young to have ever smelled a Dromaeosaurus, but instinct tells him it’s dangerous. Now Pratum smells the raptor too. The two dinosaurs get back to back to face the intruder. They may be small, but they are ready to fight. After a minute, Synca sees the glowing eyes of the raptor. He catches a glimpse of the deadly claws hanging from each finger and the sickle shaped claw on the second digit of each foot fills him with dread. The giant claw begins to slash at the air in anticipation. Then, he strikes. The raptor’s speed is blinding and Synca fully expects his life to end right then and there. But the raptor never reaches him. He watches as a fully grown Nanotyrannus slams his head into the flank of the charging raptor. The feathered dinosaur staggers back a few steps and bumps into another Nanotyrannus. Outnumbered and outgunned, he backs off and hisses. The Nanotyrannus’ roar back and the raptor turns tail and runs of at full speed. The two Nanotyrannus’ sniff each other to make sure the other is all right. Then they turn their attention to the youngsters. It takes a second to register, but Synca and Pratum soon realize these dinosaurs are not enemies. These are their parents. The father is Brutus and their mother is Shethorne. The adults begin to escort their young back to the nest. When they arrive, Fog and Linea squeal in joy. After an adventure like that, Synca and Pratum readily go to sleep.
When they wake up a day later, Shethorne is sitting alongside the nest, but Brutus is not there. Synca is somewhat concerned at first, but his fears evaporate when he sees his father enter the clearing dragging a carcass. Synca has never seen an Ornithomimus, but it doesn’t matter. He knows food when he sees it. Brutus and Shethorne use their long curved teeth to carve off more manageable pieces of flesh for the chicks. It’s the first meat Synca has ever eaten and it’s also the best thing he’s ever had. After eating their fill, the youngsters quickly go to playing. A few hours later and they are all dozing. They’ll need all the energy they can get. Pretty soon, it’ll be time for them to learn the ways of the dinosaur.
PS- I'll try to post these at least once a week.

MemberTyrannosaurus RexMar-30-2014 4:09 PMNice, looking forward to the next.
Notice how most people post a chapter or a fight every couple days, and then I have it daily around the same time. I just noticed that.

MemberTyrannosaurus RexMar-30-2014 4:21 PMEh, at least we have the daily posts and then a bonus post or two that way. Gives me something to do when I have nothing better to do.

MemberCompsognathusMar-31-2014 4:35 AMGood chapter, but I always thought that Synca was a female 0_0.
Keep in mind that many people have died for their beliefs; it's actually quite common. The real courage is in living and suffering for what you believe in. -Brom-

MemberTyrannosaurus RexMar-31-2014 4:39 AMNow that you mention it, Synca sounds like one of those dual gender names like Jordan, Taylor and Jamie.

MemberCompsognathusMar-31-2014 4:59 AMI figured that she was female because of Synca. An a often means that something is female. A few examples are Sara, Laura, Christina etc. In many languages a word is female if it ends on an a.
