Acro Rex
MemberCompsognathusMar-15-2014 3:58 PMthe name? Nanuqsaurus hoglundi. This arctic tyrannosaurine was 6.5 feet tall and about twenty three feet long. IT seems pretty large, until you compare it to other tyrannosaurs.
"I find it absolutely thrilling that there is another new dinosaur found in the polar region," paleontologist Anthony Fiorillo said in a statement from the Perot Museum. "It tells us that the ecosystem of ancient Arctic was a very different place, and it challenges everything we know about dinosaurs."
Fiorillo was also stated sayin " there's a possibility it's a young one" so these animals may have gotten substantially larger.
The find was intially thought to belong to another group, but when skull fragments were compared to other tyrannosaurs, they were almost identical. The new find gives us an insight into the arctic paleoecology. If there is tyrannosaurs abundant in the area, the area is bound to be a diverse one.

MemberTyrannosaurus RexMar-15-2014 4:08 PMCool. So basically, it's large, but compared to other Tyrannosaurs, it's adorable. I'd imagine that thing would have a coating of feathers too, which would add to the things overall cuteness. Until it ripped you from limb to limb and ate you alive that is.
Jack of all trades. Master of none

MemberCompsognathusMar-15-2014 4:10 PMCool. A new discovery is always exciting, especially when it's a new tyrannosaur.
Based on the length and height(6-7 meters long and 2-2.5 meters tall) I'd estimate this individual at least 1 ton. If it is a young one, an adult would probably be 8 meters long and about 2 tons in weight.
Here are some pics I found...

MemberTriceratopsMar-15-2014 5:55 PMHave read about this recently, and it is interesting to keep discovering new dinosaurs.
What makes me wonder is the size of the prey it hunted. It was small, and did live during the reign of Gorgosaurus 70 million years ago.

MemberCompsognathusMar-15-2014 5:57 PMHuh, interesting. Maybe it had a similar relationship with Gorgosaurus like the one seen in Tyrannosaurus and Nanotyrannus.
Keep in mind that many people have died for their beliefs; it's actually quite common. The real courage is in living and suffering for what you believe in. -Brom-
