PREDATORY- Chapter 4: The Amazon

Primal King

Many of the small bipedal animals had tried to kill him this way. No matter how much it stung, the bullets were too small to harm him. It only made him madder. He had even been shot with a large metal tube that created fire on contact. It had scalded him and burned the scratches that ran down his face from a previous fight with another tyrannosaur. That burn caused the scratches to never heal, forever exposing the teeth and gums in that area. He had chased the Animal and got a small bite out of him. However, not so small that it hadn’t nearly killed the animal. It had nearly taken out the Animal’s entire left side. The smaller animals were stubborn, but weak. He did not mind eating them. But, they were all after his territory, and he wanted more. As such he ran into more Animals, so he fed on them. He would eat any other animal, he was a super predator.
“Have you gone insane?!” My aide shouted.
“No, I don’t want him to kill anymore.” I responded cooly. I knew he would respond like this. We had just landed and my right-hand man was with us now too.
My aide’s name was Tanner Rein and we had just picked him up from New Zealand where I had sent him there to check out some suspicious animal attacks.

“He nearly killed you!” He cried. “Your entire left side: GONE. That grenade you threw just pissed him off! I mean, you’re talking about taking on The Reaper! The most dangerous animal we’ve come across!”
“LISTEN.” I snapped. “He’s gotten to the outskirts of the city. He’s eating people, livestock, and his natural prey! There are innocent people there, and they aren’t gonna nuke the place!”
I took a deep breath. “The Reaper is killing anyone who comes near, and it’s because he perceives them as a threat, ever since a person first harmed him. Now he’s a man eater. So, I am going to take care of the situation. My daughter’s there and my life is there. He is not going to kill any more. Now, I’m going. The question is are you?”
He said shakily, “Yeah, I’m coming. But only because you are either stupidly crazy, or crazily stupid and I don’t want you getting messed up by him.”
I smiled at him and he smiled back. We nodded to each other as if saying “Ok, let’s do this.” Then, we rounded up the rest of my group, grabbed our stuff, and got off the plane to the jeeps waiting outside. We drove for a while through the heart of the city, until we came to the outlying edge of the city. Jungle and civilization clashed furiously. We were about to keep driving when we noticed something. No one was around in the suburbia’s edges. We called the Eagle Eye’s Director and he told us the outskirts of the city had been evacuated. Then the signal cut out.
“
Why would they call evacuation?” said Marcus, the youngest member of our team.
“I don’t know. Maybe-” I was suddenly stopped short by a loud roar, a scream from another world.
“What?! He couldn’t have gotten into the city!” I yelled.
"If you can't see it... It's already too late."
