This is the first fight I've done in a while. I came up with this idea a while ago, but had never gotten around to posting it. Until now. Enjoy...

Utahraptor vs Terror Bird

Basic Info-

Utahraptor is the largest raptor on record. Adults measured 16-20 feet long, stood 6-7 feet tall, and weighed about 800-1,000 pounds. They had jaws filled with teeth nearly 2 inches long. But their primary weapons were their claws. Utahraptor had hand claws over 3 inches in length and adults had a sickle claw on the second digit of each foot over a foot long! Because Utahraptors were pretty heavy and had somewhat short legs, they weren’t all that fast. An adult could hit a top speed of about 20-25 miles per hour. Being a more primitive raptor, they weren’t quite as smart as later ones and may not have hunted in packs. But this is hard to determine for sure.

Jurassic Park Bio-

A few years before the original park was set to open, iNGEN successfully clone two Utahraptors. However, they were extremely antisocial and the larger of the two killed her counterpart. Because of this, Utahraptor was removed from the tour. At first, Hammond was furious. Then Hammond also realized the Utahraptors might take attention away from the Velociraptors which he considered superior. The remaining Utahraptor was shipped back to Site B. However, when Site B was abandoned, she escaped. This Utahraptor was just over 18 feet long, 6 feet tall, and weighed roughly 925 pounds when she escaped. Her current size and whereabouts are unknown.

Basic Info-

There were multiple species of Terror Bird. The one in this fight is Kelenken. This particular species was nearly 9 feet tall at the head and weighed over 500 pounds! Despite their large size, these birds could hit a top speed of nearly 40 miles per hour. Their powerful hind legs were also useful weapons. A kick from on of these legs could shatter bone. They also had large toe claws. But the most dangerous part of this bird was it’s head. Terror Birds had massive heads with powerful beaks. This weapon could cause massive damage. These predators were also smart.

Jurassic Park Bio-

Terror Birds were cloned as part of phase 2 for the original park. They were kept in a secret facility on Site B. Some of the DNA was not intact, so iNGEN filled in the gaps with raptor DNA since the two species were closely related. This gave the already aggressive birds an even higher temper. Also housed there was a pair of mammoths and a Smilodon. Three birds were bred, but when the facility was abandoned, they escaped. Where they went is unknown. It’s believed that they are living solitarily and competing with raptors and other small theropods for the ornithomimids on the island. The largest of the birds was nearly 10 feet tall and weighed 600 pounds.

Fight-

As the sun rises on Isla Sorna, the last Utahraptor begins her morning hunt. As she stalks through the forest, she comes across a river. Fishing in it is a pair of Spinosaurus’ and a lone Baryonyx. No food here. She keeps moving. Eventually, she finds something promising. A single Gallimimus is making her way through the trees. The raptor sets up an ambush and waits for the fleet footed dinosaur to come closer. As the Gallimimus comes within striking distance, the raptor lunges forward. The ornithomimid takes off and the Utahraptor gives chase. She can’t run faster than the Gallimimus or for very long. She needs to make every stride count. As they exit the forest and enter open ground, she leaps onto the back of the Gallimimus and drags it down. She screeches in victory and begins to feed. But the commotion has attracted some unwanted attention. She looks up to see the largest terror bird charging toward her.

The giant bird was also hunting when he heard the Utahraptor screech. He knew it meant food. He decided to charge in at full speed and try and scare off the raptor. It didn’t work. She holds her ground. He uses his height advantage and stares down at the raptor. The bird also ruffles his feathers to make himself seem bigger. She is taken aback at first, but quickly sees through the ruse. She knows she’s heavier and, pound for pound, just as strong. She shrieks at the bird and challenges him. The terror bird screeches and accepts the challenge.

They begin to circle each other, looking for a weakness. The raptor sees two spots on the bird she should go for. His legs and neck. Both are long and thin. She could easily debilitate him if she lands a good blow on either spot. The problem is both are protected by the birds deadliest weapons, his feet and beak. Meanwhile, the terror bird looks for a weakness in the raptor. Besides being slightly tired, he sees none. Then it hits him. Since he’s taller, he could try and swing his beak down and smash the top of her skull with it. The blow would kill the raptor instantly. But she sees his intent in his eyes and attacks before he can. The raptor lunges forward and bites down on one of the birds tiny wings. His thick feathers take most of the punishment though. The raptor lets go and spits out a clump of feathers. The feathers are also clinging to her teeth and she gets distracted by them. The bird takes the opportunity and attacks. He charges forward and slams his body into the raptor. She falls hard and is slightly dazed. The bird towers over her and attempts to stomp her skull with his foot. The Utahraptor sees it coming though and rolls out of the way. His foot comes down on nothing but dirt and grass.

Before he can react, she’s attacking. The bird turns to see the Utahraptor charging towards him and then jump 12 feet in the air. She lands right on his back and rakes her claws down his flanks. Once again, his feathers take the brunt of it. The bird bucks and manages to throw her off. The raptor falls hard and breaks a rib. She sees his leg right next to her jaws and she clamps down on it. The terror bird screeches in pain and bends down to attack. He manages to drive the tip of his beak deep into her shoulder. Her shoulder bloody and the shoulder blade broken, the raptor struggles to get back up. When she does stand, she looks down to see her arm hanging limply at her side. It’s no good to her any more. The bird attacks again. But the Utahraptor is ready and sidesteps. As she does, she swings her tail and knocks the terror bird of it’s feet. The bird shrieks as he falls. He gets back up and screeches at his rival.

A few miles away, the commotion has attracted the attention of two predators far larger than both the raptor and the bird. They begin to make their way to the battleground to investigate. It just might mean a meal.

Back at the scene, the raptor and bird are resting. The terror bird manages to catch his breath faster. He takes a chance and attacks. As he charges, he lowers his head. The raptor is unable to react in time and the terror bird slams his head into her flank. She staggers back and trips on the tail of the dead Gallimimus. She falls onto her back. As she looks up, she sees terror bird charging at full speed toward her. She does the only thing she can. She kicks out with both feet and thrust her sickle claws out. The bird has no time to react and the momentum of his charge sends him straight at the extended claws. Both stab deep into his chest and each pierce a lung. His eyes go wide with fear and he begins to pant heavily. As his eyes begin to glaze over, the raptor wrenches her claws out with a sickening sound. Blood pours out onto the ground as the terror bird slumps over. The raptor can barely stand, but she’ll survive.

Just then, a Spinosaurus appears on her left side and a Tyrannosaurus on the other. She looks to each side at the towering giants. The spinosaur shrieks at her and the tyrannosaur bellows at the same time. The Utahraptor has worked so hard to keep her meal and hopes of eating have just faded away. The raptor sees that she is simply outclassed and outgunned. She begins to limp off in the other direction. Meanwhile, the two titanic predators are in a roaring competition. Finally, after realizing there are two carcasses, the tyrannosaur picks up the Gallimimus and the spinosaur takes the terror bird. They each go off in different directions as they are satisfied. For now.

Winner- Utahraptor

Heavier and stronger pound for pound, the raptor was able to make up for her lack of speed and agility with number of weapons. As far as brains go, the two were evenly matched. In the end, it came down to which was better equipped for battle. But it didn’t really matter considering that no matter how deadly you are, there is almost always someone bigger than you ready to steal your hard earned food. And in this case, two someones.

Great fight. I was rooting for the Utahraptor.

Keep in mind that many people have died for their beliefs; it's actually quite common. The real courage is in living and suffering for what you believe in. -Brom-

Thanks. I thought this was a nice twist from the usual Dino vs Dino fights. Although in a way it's still Dino vs Dino, haha. Glad you liked it though.
