The remains of Afrovenator were discovered in 1993 in the Tiouraren formation of Niger. Based on its appearance, the "African Hunter" was a fearsome predator. Based on the one skeleton known, Afrovenator was 8 meters long and weighed approximately one ton,it was also a gracile and swift animal. The forelimb and the lower leg were relatively long: the humerus has a length of forty centimetres and the tibia and fourth metatarsal measure 687 and 321 millimetres respectively, as compared to a thigh bone length of seventy-six centimeters.
Afrovenator prowled the tropical area that is now northern Africa. Being so large, it was one of the top predators. Being a fast animal, Afrovenator could hunt the Ornithomimid Elaphrosaurus. The stegosaur Kentrosaurus, and the Ornithopod Dryosaurus. The huge megalosaurid also shared its environment with the Sauropods Janeschia and Brachiosaurus, though they are a bit too large to tackle alone. Afrovenator also competed with Ceratosaurus. However, being larger then it certainly made things easier for Afrovenator. They may have avoided competition, with Afrovenator hunting down the ornithomimids and Ceratosaurus preying on the stegosaurs and mid sized sauropods.
Afrovenator most likely lived alone, forming impromptu packs to hunt the gargantuan sauropods of its environment. Apart from this, they were most likely solitary animals, only gathering during the mating season. Females may have layed as many as eggs, with only one or two surviving to adult hood. As large as they were, they had little to fear as they reached maturity.

Keep in mind that many people have died for their beliefs; it's actually quite common. The real courage is in living and suffering for what you believe in. -Brom-
