MemberAllosaurusFeb-11-2014 5:52 PMIn my life, practicially nobody shares an interest for dinosaurs. Some show interest for Jurassic Park the movie, but not actual dinosaurs. These are MY beliefs of why they aren't so popular.
1- Technology- Kids these days don't really get excited for dinosaurs because they would rather use iPads and play with video games all day. I mean I like vidoe games, but I see kids, ages 4 and up, just play video games ALL DAY. And it is all they ever talk about, so they really never want to learn about something else, like dinosaurs.
2- Hardly any good Dinosaur Movies- Wheneevr a popular movie comes out, what it's about or what it contains becomes popular. Like when the Hunger Games came out for example, all my firends and classmates could talk about was imagine being inthe Hunger games. There are hardly any good dinosaur movies these days to get people's interest in dinosaurs "back on." Maybe when Jurassic World comes out, hopefully that "spark" of people wanting to learn about dinosaurs will come back again.
3- No Adults to tell about them- My interest for dinosaurs started when I first watched Jurassic Park as a kid, and I think it was my older sister who told me more about them, which got me excited. I mean come on, I was a small kid imagining how it was like to see a HUMONGOUS T- rex walking around hunting for a "horned" dinosaur. I see hardly any older people telling kids about dinosaurs, except for the basic explanation of them. So all kids know about dinosaurs is "They were big reptile things that once roamed the earth 65 million years ago when an asteriod killed them." Of course they don't really know about recent eveidence showing that dinosaurs were actually just ginat birds, and not reptiles.
well, those are my personal opinions of why people and especially kids these days aren't really interested in dinosaurs these days. Heck, I rememeber when a girl told me that "Nobody cares about dinosaurs anymore!" And people around her agreed.
well, do you have any other reasons and opinions?

MemberAllosaurusFeb-11-2014 6:01 PMWell, what if it's just another sci-fi horror that uses popular overrated action cliches that make people NOT want to watch it? I am actually worried now!

MemberTyrannosaurus RexFeb-11-2014 6:26 PMI agree with all that has been said here.
I actually enjoyed WWD (keep in mind, it was intended for kids), but the only thing that disappointed me was the lack of bloodshed.

MemberAllosaurusFeb-11-2014 7:49 PMJurassic Park was also made for kids, I mean it could have easily been R-rated, and they made it PG-13.

MemberCompsognathusFeb-11-2014 10:00 PM1) I totally agree. All the reasons you listed are true.
2) With what Treverrow is doing and Speilberg consulting the movie will be awesome, and I think it will definielty ignite something.
3) WWD was pretty good. And the action was good and was fairly violent, but dont expect blood squirting out of dead bodies and guts being spilled, it is meant for kids, and it was fairly violent.
4) JURASSIC PARK WAS NOT MADE FOR KIDS! All the violent scenes were violent and disturbing. Just because of the lack of dirtly stuff and swearing, it was PG-13. That is my opinion :)

MemberAllosaurusFeb-11-2014 10:22 PMThey made it so kids could watch it, but it was also made for adults. Sorry, I misphrased that!

MemberCompsognathusFeb-11-2014 10:54 PMYoung adults is the correct term Raptor401...
Also You make one of the best points with blaming technology, Many kids have seen JP, I asked one of my friends/peers/classmates about it a while ago and they had no idea what the movie characters were or waht was going on...
Y'see technology is the reason these kids dont care (I say this as a young adult to other young adult/kids) Don't waste your precious youth on your I device, I saw the first JP back when Ipods didn't exist, well they did but they were pretty big and obnoxious... Kids are more fasinated with Instagram then the world that game before them...
Damn shame... Bloody damn shame... I remember being scared of JP when I was a kid... Man if I could tell younger paden that... XD
ANYWHO...
JW is a reboot sorta thing, its not exactly a reboot more of a "Re-Kindle" JW's goal is to re kindle the spark JP had with the rumored 2 sequels after this ones released...
Now from a fianancal standpoint (I dwindle in everything...) This is a huge gamble, "The power may come on it may not, The system was never intended to be shut down..."- Ray Arnold, WISE words Samuel jackson...
When they made the first JP did you ever get that feeling, That feeling, you just cant name it, but it was excitement, mixed with thrill, mixed with adreniline, mixed with fear and terror... THAT is what made JP a hit. Now with the gamble, this new generation could not enjoy it, you will get fans like say us... Who will camp out 5 weeks before it premeires, But others will not.
Another point, WHEN I was a young lad, heading to drumheller cause I won the duel of where to go on the weekend, we went to the Royal Tyrell (which I would love a summer job at...) And went through the thing, I always loved it....
If anyone tells you to stop caring for dinosaurs, tell them you give zero fucks about that phone in their hand, see what happens...
If you never expirience it all... you wont know what you like and what you hate....

MemberCompsognathusFeb-12-2014 7:53 AMGood points people.
And man, I just hate it. DInosaurs are so cool.
One of the biggest problems of where I live, is that people are busy with other things, and the most didn't see JP at ALL. I'm very lucky, I managed to ignite the dinosaur passion in 2 of my friends :D

MemberAllosaurusFeb-16-2014 8:48 PMWell I say we start a project. All of us do all this dinosaur magic with stuff. At my school, I'm probably one of the, let's say, four or five out of thirty six people in my class. It's a real shame nobody likes these magnificent beasts anymore. Thankfully, my dad is enthusiastic about dinosaurs, so it's a good conversation topic. Back to the project, PM me for some ideas. Soon, dinosaurs in media will be as extinct as the creatures themselves! WE MUST TAKE A STAND!
