Sinotyrannus kazuoensis

Carnosaur

Sinotyrannus means "Chinese Tyrant", and with its large size, it's not difficult to see why. Approaching thirty feet and weighing two tons, Sinotyrannus is massive. Even with it's large size, it's closer related to Guanlong then to Tyrannosaurus.
Classification of Sinotyrannus is a bit difficult. Like other early Tyrannosaurs, Sinotyrannus had a few odd features. It had three clawed fingers, similar to other early Tyrannosaurs, and also had a large crest on its head. It also has many similarities to the Proceratosaurids. Very little is known about Sinotyrannus, as it is known from very few remains.
Despite this, we can scale off closely related theropods and estimate Sinotyrannus to be around ten meters long. Being so large, it would be an apex predator of the ecosystem of Liaoning Province, preying on anything it pleased. Size also gave Sinotyrannus the advantage of not having many rivals. The similarly sized featherd tyrant Yutyrannus from the nearby Yixian Formation, may have lived and competed with the basal Proceratosaurid.
Nature doesn't deceive us; it is we who deceive ourselves.
