Muldoon walked away from the caved in remains of the cavern, and from Thorn. He left his hat behind, held down by a rock in front of the pile. He walked to the main watering hole, hoping that a the .223 rounds that the M4 could fire would be enough to take down a Parasaurolophus.
He hid in a bush, M4 ready to fire. He picked a target and aimed for the eye, knowing that the eye was the best chance at getting a brain shot. He fired, and the Parasaurolophus dropped. He walked over to it, started a fire, and cut a piece out with his knife. He cooked it, and remained alert, because without Thorn, he was the easiest meal on the island.
He saw a Velociraptor step into the clearing, and grabbed the SPAS 12, thinking that another would attack from the side. He stood up and climbed onto the carcass, looking for another one. When he didn't see one, he grabbed the M4. "With a whole pack of you, I'm screwed, but it looks like it's just you." The Velociraptor saw the M4 pointed at her and started running at Muldoon. Muldoon fired at it, dropping it with one of the first five shots. "Nice try, but a full automatic is going to beat a head on charge from a three hundred pound animal every time."
Muldoon went back to his piece of meat, thinking about what happened. "I'm assuming that the rest of the Velociraptors that Alan said were breeding were bombed, and the other carnivores, the Dilophosaurus, Metriacanthosaurus, and Baryonyx, what happened to them? The Baryonyx was killed by Rexy, I saw that, the other two were probably bombed. If that carpet bombing got Rexy, there's no way other two could have survived. Looks like I'm the only hunter alive on this island now."
A week later, Muldoon was hunting at the watering hole again. He watched the herd for a while, having nothing else to worry about. After watching for several minutes, the herd started running from something. He didn't know what, but then he noticed he was upwind of the herd. "Damn it, I'm going to have to follow them for a while now."
Muldoon heard a loud crash, and the herd turned around and ran into the lake. "What the hell? Looks like I'm getting a second chance, now to wait for them to get out of the lake."
Muldoon was watching the herd when he felt something breathing down his neck. "Oh crap, what is that? Please be friendly." He turned around, and when he realized what it was, Thorn was looking him dead in the eye, holding his hat.
"How the hell are you alive?" Thorn tilted her head in confusion and set Muldoon's hat on the branch next to him, and then walked away. She returned a few minutes later with a dead Parasaurolophus. "That's the crash I heard. Amazing, nothing else to say, just amazing."
