The next day, Thorn and Muldoon woke up at the same time as usual, just before sunrise, and went to get a drink. The Triceratops herd was already awake, and ready to defend what they feel is theirs. Thorn looked at them, not happy, and ready to attack had Muldoon not been riding on her. "Alright Princess, let's go around and try somewhere else." Thorn understood the word "around" and did as she was instructed.
They went to the other side of the watering hole and had a drink, much to the anger of the herd. Thorn would have been smirking if she could, and Muldoon was looking at the herd, planning what to do next. Thorn caught a glimpse of Muldoon, and knew he was thinking about something. She continued drinking, and when she was satisfied, lied down, waiting for Muldoon. When he was finished, he mounted and they looked for a nearby place to set up camp for Muldoon.
They found a nice spot, and Muldoon set it up while Thorn went back to sleep. "Sure do like your sleep, don't you? Haha, whatever keeps your strength up in these crap conditions.
A week later, the watering hole was almost completely gone, the Triceratops herd doing everything in their power to keep Thorn away from it. It was clearly making Thorn angry, and she was about to lose it. Muldoon saw this, and he was trying his best to keep her calm. Eventually, he couldn't hold Thorn back anymore, and she attacked as soon as the herd went to sleep.
She walked to the nearest member, and she bit it's neck, killing it quickly and silently. She was about to drag it away, knowing she could get some hydration from eating it, and then she sensed vibrations. She turned and saw Lady Margaret running at her, and sidestepped at the last minute. She looked back at Lady Margaret, and there was no self control left to stop Thorn from attacking.
She went for her remaining horn, and sheared it off with one swift bite. Lady Margaret charged Thorn, and Thorn went for a headbutt. They were in a shoving match, and Thorn was quickly gaining ground. She pushed as hard as she could, and then she moved to the side. Lady Margaret hit Thorn with her frill, and Thorn didn't react, being used to harder hits. Thorn ran and jumped on her back, biting her frill again. She ripped another chunk out, and the extra weight caused Lady Margaret to collapse.
Thorn jumped off, and she looked at Lady Margaret, who was now helpless against her attacks. The rest of the herd began to wake up, and Thorn knew it. She ran off again after taking one last bite, and a chunk of Lady Margaret's tail, knowing that she didn't have any chance against the whole herd. She went back to Muldoon, and they left, knowing they weren't going to get anything else from the watering hole.
"How about your old paddock? There may be water up in the mountains." Thorn looked at Muldoon, and he pointed where he wanted to go. She walked towards her old paddock, and when they got there, they found enough water to last them a month. Thorn took a drink, the first she had in days, and then went to sleep, needing rest after the fight. "You did good today Rexy, you did damn good."

Keep in mind that many people have died for their beliefs; it's actually quite common. The real courage is in living and suffering for what you believe in. -Brom-

MemberCompsognathusJan-29-2014 7:48 PMThis chapter was great. I love this series. I was a little worried when you said that Rexy/Thorne would just find Lady Margaret dead, which was pretty anit-climatic and I was disappointed that it sounded like Rexy wouldn't defeat Lady Margeret. You proved me wrong! Rexy defeated the trike in such an awesome way too! Keep iit up!

MemberCompsognathusJan-29-2014 11:57 PMOh, I know. I was just saying glad she was put in her place. She should know by now that challenging a fully grown angry T. rex is not a good idea. At all.
