Six months since Jurassic Park was abandoned, a major drought hit Isla Nublar. The island was small, and Thorn could easily search the entire island for food in a day. The main watering hole was a quarter of its original size, and Thorn wanted to defend it for herself and Muldoon.
She could scare off any creature that showed up, but Muldoon wouldn't let her. "We've got to let some feel comfortable, otherwise they won't come back, and we'll have to leave in search of food. It wouldn't be a problem, but then some other carnivore could take out some herbivores." Thorn didn't know what that meant, but she knew Muldoon wouldn't let her.
A herd of Brachiosaurus arrived, and Thorn looked at Muldoon expectantly. "Not a chance Princess, those things will crush you like a bug before you even know what happened." Thorn knew Muldoon just told her no. Thorn walked out to get a drink, and when she got there, the herd looked at her. She ignored them, and when she noticed that they were still looking at her, she finished drinking and walked away. The herd didn't know what it meant, but Thorn was listening to Muldoon.
A sudden roar got her attention, and when she looked behind her to see Lady Margaret. She turned right around and faced her, roaring back. "God dammit, not again. I guess she's at an advantage, being in top condition and not missing anything."
Thorn looked at Lady Margaret, prepared to finish what she started. Lady Margaret charged, and Thorn sidestepped, leaving Lady Margaret to hit a tree. She didn't hit with her horn, so she turned around and waited for the right moment to charge again. When the chance came, she charged, narrowly missing Thorn again. They look at each other eye to eye, and Thorn could tell she was dehydrated. Lady Margaret could tell that Thorn has been eating good, and that she is staying fairly hydrated, being in control of the watering hole.
She charged again, and Thorn sidestepped again. This repeated several times, Thorn sidestepping by a smaller margin every time. When Lady Margaret charged again, Thorn sidestepped again, this time by a larger margin. "I should have known, this is a bloody game to her, she's doing that on purpose."
Thorn decided to sidestep one last time before attacking for real. When she did attack, she went for her frill. She bit down full force, and ripped a chunk of it when she pulled back. Lady Margaret roared in pain, and then attempted to thrust her remaining horn into Thorn's face. Instead, she hit her with her nose horn in chest. Thorn jumped back, more surprised than anything, and growled in anger. "Play time's over now."
Thorn was about to attack when the rest of the herd showed up and roared at her. Thorn looked at them, slowly backing off, knowing that there are too many of them for her to handle. She turned around, and ran off with a final roar. The herd went to the watering hole for a drink, and then lied down for a rest. Thorn looked on with Muldoon at her side, growling. "You tried, and that's all that matters."
