Thorn and Muldoon were heading for the section of the park where herbivores could roam freely. They were going there because they were hungry, and Muldoon knew that the Hadrosaurs there would be the easiest meals. They were almost there when something else got Thorn's attention.
She switched direction, and she had seen what she sensed, a wounded Triceratops. "You sure Rexy? It may be wounded, but it's still going to be a bigger challenge than a Hadrosaur." Thorn lowered her head, and Muldoon climbed off with his SPAS 12. "Have it your way. I'm stubborn, but I'm not about to argue with a T-Rex."
Thorn walked over to the Triceratops, and then something else challenged her. Thorn looked over towards it, not used to being challenged, and saw the leader of the herd. "Lady Margaret, the only thing on this whole damn island that could take Rexy and win. Come on Princess, don't fail now. What can I do to help?"
Thorn looked at Lady Margaret, mad that she was challenged, and attacked. She went straight for her horn and bit. They got into a shoving match, and Thorn was gaining ground. "Wow, she's stronger than I expected, and I thought John was being optimistic when he said she could beat a trike ninety percent of the time."
Lady Margaret suddenly gave a big push, sending Thorn stumbling back. She regained her balance just in time to jump out of the way of a charge. She attacked again, and this time bit Lady Margaret's back, making deep wounds. Lady Margaret shook Thorn off, and then turned around and charged again, grazing Thorn's side, causing some bleeding. Thorn roared in pain, and Lady Margaret charged again. Thorn, not having enough time to jump out of the way, met Lady Margaret's charge head on instead. Thorn got her head between Lady Margaret's horns, and the two beasts were in a shoving match again, looking each other dead in the eye. "Could this really be what would happen back in the Cretaceous? Or is this just a result of the genetic engineering? This is impressive none the less. You're doing good Princess, you're doing good."
Lady Margaret repeated the move she used in the previous shoving match, but Thorn expected it and quickly moved away. Lady Margaret faced Thorn again, and then roared. Thorn roared back, and went for her horn again, biting down full force and cracking the base of it. Lady Margaret charged, and she hit head on, with her cracked horn. The horn broke off instead of piercing through her, and Thorn roared in pain, and anger. Lady Margaret stepped back, and her horn stayed in Thorn's chest. "That's going to leave a mark, I hope that she lets me pull it out without biting me half."
Thorn felt the horn still lodged in her ribs, and she saw it was missing from Lady Margaret. Thorn decided that it wasn't worth the fight, and she turned to leave. Lady Margaret roared and charged again. Thorn turned around, and jumped out of the way. She was going to leave, but not now, she wanted to get the kill.
Muldoon fired off his SPAS 12, and Lady Margaret ran off, not knowing what it was, and Thorn knew that Muldoon wanted her to go to him. She walked over to him, and then he looked at the horn more closely.
"Nice try Princess, but not this time. You bit off more than you could chew with that fight, but you still did good. Now then, hold still while I pull this out." Thorn understood what "hold still" means, and she did. Muldoon pulled the horn out after several minutes, and Thorn roared in pain as blood came out the wound. "You're tough, this thing was deep, thanks for not eating me." Muldoon pointed at the part of the horn that was jammed in Thorn, and she saw how deep it had been, at least three inches.
Jack of all trades. Master of none

MemberCompsognathusJan-26-2014 10:30 AMSo this is the reason why Thorn/Rexy and Lady Margaret don't get along very well.I wonder if we will see some more old rivals of Rexy ;)
Keep in mind that many people have died for their beliefs; it's actually quite common. The real courage is in living and suffering for what you believe in. -Brom-

MemberTriceratopsJan-26-2014 5:15 PMA good inside-look into how Thorn/Rexy lived her life and how there could be a strong bond between a human and a dinosaur.
Rexy seems a lot more complex than simply a blood-thirsty territorial killer. She is truly a curious tyrannosaur who is simply going about her own business. It is refreshing to read about a dinosaur liker her.

MemberCompsognathusJan-26-2014 9:29 PMi love how you put the point of view through Thorn, makes her seem like less of just a blood thirsty killer. Nice as always, can't wait for the next.
