MemberCompsognathusJan-25-2014 2:59 PMWhat happens when an abelisaur takes on an herbivore with swords for fingers? Let's find out!
Nothronychus
Length: 4.5 m
Weight 1 ton
Height: 3.6 m
Era: Early Cretaceous
Nothronychus live in small family groups on Isla Nublar. Their family bonds are strong, and even the males rarely leave when they reach maturity. Females lead these groups, and are typically larger then males. Nothronychus is covered in a downy covering of feathers that range from sandy brown in color to pure white with black motteling. Older females develop a bright blue beak, the reason for this is unknown. They graze in the treetops during the daytime, but occasionally eat smaller animals and insects.
Tarascosaurus
Length: 10 m
Height: 3.25 m
Weight: 2 tons
Era: Late Cretaceous
Tarascosaurus is one of the apex predators of isla Sorna. They prefer small sauropods, but if they are few and far between, will settle for ornithopods. Tarascosaurus constantly fights for food resources with Afrovenator, and the two species have developed a hatred for each other. Tarascosaurus is a chocolate brown color, with silver stripes on the legs and neck.
Fight!
An old bull Tarascosaurus surveys his forest home. He's quite proud oh his expansive territory. He forcefully took it from a large Siats, but not without a cost. He is now completely blind in one eye, due to the Siats large hand claws. The injury hinders him greatly, but he gets enough food to survive.
His intimadating thirty five foot long body and many scars scare predators off their kills without the need for a fight. The Abelisaur was content with this, but he wanted to make a kill of his own. He walks down a rocky hill and into a small open plain, looking for a target. He looks out onto the plain with his one good eye. a herd of Centrosaurus graze the small shrubs and grass, while a large herd of Struthiomimus sit at the tree line. Having tangled with many Ceratopsians in his long life, he decides to go for the faster but easier to kill Struthiomimus.
He stealthily snuck up behind the fleet footed reptiles. He hunkered down in the tall grass and looked for an easy target. The bull Abelisaur noticed one particular Struthiomimus with a limp, and focused his eye on it. The injured Struthiomimus blundered close to the hidden abelisaur, and he got ready to spring forward.
A sudden loud grunt spooked the ornithomimosaur, and it sprinted off. the entire herd caught on, and ran at top speed into the trees. Frustrated, the Abelisaur turned towards the source of the sound. He could smell the animal, but he couoldn't see it. He turned his head so that his good eye could see the culprit. He stood frozen as he looked at the enormous animal that stood before him.
It was a Nothronychus, a female by the looks of it. The Therizinosaur had not yet seen the Tarascosaurus, and the bull abelisaur decided he would make it his lunch. He noticed this animal didn't have a good sense of vision either, so this evened out the playing field a bit. He snuck behind the animal, and sprinted towards it. The therizinosaur slammed into the tree it was grazing on, and slumped to the ground. It was suprisingly agile, and it turned to face the Abelisaur as it was going for a neck bite.
The Nothronychus swatted at the charging Abelisaur, but the Tarascosaurus was fast, and ducked the potentially lethal blow. He bit down on the Therizinosaurs leg and jerked back, tearing a decent chunk of meat off. The Therizinosaur squealed, but stood to her full height and brandished her eight inch hand claws at her attacker. Unfazed, the Tarascosaurus locked eyes with the Nothronychus and swallowed her flesh. He walked around the Therizinosaur, growling softly. The Nothronychus pivoted, never taking her eyes off of the gigantic predator.
The abelisaur turned to face the Therizinosaur head on, and backed away. Thinking she had sucessfully driven off the Tarascosaurus, she cautiously went back to grazing on the tree. The jaws of the Abelisaur sank into the back of the unsuspecting Nothronychus' neck. She couldn't extend her arms to land a blow, so she was defenseless. She tried to turn, but the strength of the abelisaur was too much. The Tarascosaur tried to reposition his jaws, big mistake.
The Therizinosaur took the oppurtunity and turned to face her attacker. She screeched at him and again brandished her lethal looking claws. The Tarascosaurus tasted blood, and wasn't going any where. He darted in again, and the Therizinosaur swung her claws. She connected with the side of his face, but the Abelisaur continued his charge. The impact of the marauding Tarascosaurus sent the Nothronychus crashing to the ground. The bull abelisaur landed on top of her, and soon regained his senses.
He desperatly attempted to land a killing bite, but the Therizinosaur thwarted his attempts. She wasn't slashing him with her claws, instead hitting him upside the head with her wrist and elbow. Both were becoming desperate, as both were in a vunerable position. The Tarascosaur inched himself forward towards the Nothronychus' vunerable neck. The jaws were getting closer to her face, and the Therizinosaur knew she would need to do something.
When the Abelisaur went for her throat, she thrusted her lethal claws into its neck. The abelisaur gave her an odd look, and spat a bit of blood onto her sandy brown feathers. She watched the light leave his eyes as they lay interlocked. Once she knew he was dead, she got to her feet and let the predator slide off her claws. She turned to the tree and resumed feasting on the top branches.
Winner...Nothronychus!
This was a close one, but the Herbivore came out on top with a drive to survive.
The next fight: Cryolophosaurus vs Utahraptor. What happens when the Raptor killer from round one faces off with the largest known Dromeaosaur? The exciting fight goes down tomorrow!

Keep in mind that many people have died for their beliefs; it's actually quite common. The real courage is in living and suffering for what you believe in. -Brom-
