The End The Last Icon
The morning after Terrance died, Thorn went to look for him. She figured he would have gone to go where their parents had died, and when she got there, she saw him. She knew that he went peacefully, and realized that if he died the way he lived, it would have been violently on the warpath that they grew up and thrived on. She was happy to see that he he went on his own terms, but saddened at the fact that she is now alone for the remainder of her life.
She lived with it, and still defended the territory from the occasional challenger that showed up, and two years after Terrance died, Thorn did too, same day, same age, almost the same size.
She relived her life in a dream like Terrance did. She remembered breaking out of the egg and seeing Terrance. She remembered how he had always watched over her, not just as hatchlings, but their entire lives. She didn't remember watching the battle like Terrance did, she had slept through it. She remembered the battle with the pair, and she remembered how Terrance looked after the battle, bruised, bloody, like he had went through hell and back, the section of his spine that was permanently exposed. She remembered the strange place, and she remembered the battle with the siblings. She remembered when they got back. After that, she remembered the look in Terrance's eyes the day he knew he was going to die. Everything went black, and she had her last breath, almost cracking a smile like Terrance had.
