Death Duels 9097 Small Sector Round 1 Fight 5: Utahraptor vs Nanotyrannus
Utahraptor
Utahraptor was the largest Dromeasaur. It was from Early Cretaceous Utah, and weighed fifteen hundred pounds and was over twenty feet long. It was likely a solitary hunter, unusual for a Dromeasaur, but it had the classic sickle claw that Dromeasaurs are famous for. The sickle claw on Utahraptor was twelve inches long, capable of leaving deep wounds in an opponent.
Nanotyrannus
Nanotyrannus was a small Tyrannosaur from the Late Cretaceous. It lived alongside the King itself, Tyrannosaurus Rex, and would likely kill a baby Rex if the chance came. It had around a five hundred PSI bite force, and was likely a solitary hunter. Nanotyrannus was about one thousand pounds in weight, and twenty feet long.
Begin!
A Utahraptor is on the hunt. A tropical storm hit Nublar about a week earlier, and the island was bombed after that, most of the dinosaurs being killed, and the resident T-Rex disappearing without a trace. The Utahraptor sensed a possible meal, a wounded Parasaurolophus. The Utahraptor charged and hit with enough force to knock it down, and slashed its throat, killing it in seconds.
A Nanotyrannus was also hunting, and the crash got his attention. He walked to where he heard it come from, and roared at the Utahraptor. The Utahraptor roared in response, and they walked in circles. The Nanotyrannus, all though smaller, was slightly stronger.
The Utahraptor charged, sidestepping and slashing the Nanotyrannus's side. The Nanotyrannus turned, and despite the pain, bit the Utahraptor's back. The Utahraptor's momentum kept him going, and he got free. He turned to charge the Nanotyrannus again, but it was already running at him and they collided. The Utahraptor fell down, and the Nanotyrannus lost balance. The Nanotyrannus recovered, and went to attack the Utahraptor. The Utahraptor kicked the Nanotyrannus in the jaw, and while the kick didn't do much, it bought him enough time to get up.
They go back to walking in circles, both getting a feel for what their opponent is capable of. The Nanotyrannus was the first to charge this time, and the Utahraptor sidestepped. The Nanotyrannus expected it though, and turned fast enough to bite the Utahraptor's arm. He managed to pull it off, and then he watched the Utahraptor again. The Utahraptor tried to slash the Nanotyrannus with his good arm, but the Nanotyrannus was too fast for him.
They both charged at each other, and the Nanotyrannus lowered his head last second, and the Utahraptor jumped last second. Neither of them expected the other's attempt at an attack, and they both had a moment of hesitation. The Utahraptor turned around and charged again, catching the Nanotyrannus just when he was turning around. He hit the Nanotyrannus from the side, and they both fell down.
The Nanotyrannus took the worst of the attack, and he was winded. He rolled over in time to see the Utahraptor jump in the air and try to slash him with his sickle claws. The Nanotyrannus closed his eyes and waited for the final blow to strike, but it never did. The Nanotyrannus's mate had saved him, and he stood up. The Nanotyrannus mates stood side by side, looking at the Utahraptor, waiting for him to attack.
The crackling of a tree got their attention, and all three looked to where it came from. The tree fell, and the local Tyrannosaurus stepped into the clearing. She looked at the three dinosaurs that faced her, and they all noticed something on her back, a human. "Let's get out of here Rexy, you can handle them, but I wouldn't last long." Rexy roared at the three predators and they ran off before she had turned around, and they were long gone when she came back for the Parasaurolophus.
Winner..... Utahraptor
Larger, faster and more agile, the Utahraptor won, but not without a good fight. The Nanotyrannus was saved by his mate, nothing more, nothing less.
Lets see who found a reference to something else in here.

MemberCompsognathusDec-17-2013 10:56 AMNice, that was a very well-written fight. I was expecting Utahraptor to "win", althought he actually never did.
So, good job.
Also, I guess that man was actually Muldoon, as he interacts with Rexy/Thorn in the park, following the happenings of Thorn's life: 65 million years later.
That's my best guess.

MemberCompsognathusDec-17-2013 3:21 PMNaturally I was rooting for Nanotyrannus, but at least he survived.

MemberTyrannosaurus RexDec-17-2013 3:47 PMThanks guys, and yeah, Muldoon. I couldn't kill the NanoT, but I couldn't have him win either, he wouldn't stand a chance in the finale (round three would be different, but he wouldn't last in the finale).
