Terrance's Story: New World Chapter 8

Not sure what to say, there is a familiar event in this Chapter. Enjoy

New World

After getting used to their new territory, and ally, Terrance and Thorn looked around some of the surrounding area, wondering what other new creatures lived there. They didn't get very far before finding something of interest, a carcass surrounded in predators that were smaller than them, but bigger than some of the other predators. Terrance looked at them, thinking of the Dromeasaurs back home. They looked similar, but were bigger, and didn't have feathers. Thorn looked at them too, trying to decide what to do about them. Terrance, after a moment of thinking, roared at the pack of large Dromeasaurs, Utahraptors.

The alpha Utahraptor lunged at Terrance and slashed the end of his snout. It didn't do much to Terrance, but he knew they weren't going give up. Terrance attacked the alpha, and Thorn went for one of the others. The alpha jumped out of Terrance's way, and bumped into Thorn, who attacked it. The alpha dodged again, and got stepped on by Terrance when he was turning around. The other three members of the pack went for Terrance, and he caught one, Thorn caught one, and the last one slashed Terrance's side and ran away, seeing that it was suicide to continue fighting. After eating the Utahraptor's kill, Terrance and Thorn kept looking around. They heard a roar that was a little ways away, and decided to check it out.

Before they got there, Terrance smelled something familiar, and just before they walked into the clearing, Terrance roared. The siblings that they had followed were fighting a female Rex, both biting her neck, which sparked an awful memory for Terrance, and there was a male that was laying unconscious, or dead, Terrance couldn't tell. Terrance roared again, and the siblings challenged him, thinking he was alone. The female had went to check on something, and when Thorn showed up, the siblings ran off, knowing it was a bad idea to stick around.

Terrance went to look at the male, and when he sniffed him, he discovered he was still alive, which Terrance thought was lucky, thinking of when the parents had killed his own father in an attack, and he thought it might have been similar with this fight. Thorn sized up the female, and she roared at Terrance and Thorn. Terrance smelled something else, her chicks, and knew it was a bad idea to stay there with this female.

They left, and Terrance was happy to have saved a female from the same fate as his own mother, saved some chicks from losing their parents, and possibly saving the chicks altogether. He also wondered if it was a bad idea to have done that, thinking about future competition. For now though, he doesn't care, and they go back to their territory.
