MemberCompsognathusNovember 04, 2013Well, this is my first special from my hit series the Clash Of Series. Today, we'll see two of the fastest large theropods go head to head. Sizes and speeds based on my estimates.
Albertosaurus

Alberta Lizard
26-30 ft(8-9 meters) long, 10-13 ft(3-4 meters) tall, and 2-2.5 tons
Weapons- massive teeth, powerful bite(2,000 psi), speed, agility, size, and intelligence.
Speed- 30-35 miles per hour
Summary- Albertosaurus was a somewhat advanced tyrannosaur. It's also one of the fastest large theropods ever found. It's main weapons were all up front. Albertosaurus focused on the head and teeth. In a fight, it would face it's attacker head on and use it's speed and agility to it's advantage.
Deltadromeus

Delta Runner
23-26 ft(7-8 meters) long, 8-10 ft(2.5-3 meters) tall, and 1-1.5 tons
Weapons- sharp teeth, claws, speed, and agility.
Speed- 35-40 miles per hour
Summary- Deltadromeus lived in a very dangerous environment. It lived alongside a number of predators much larger than itself. To compensate for it's smaller size, Deltadromeus used it's greater speed to it's advantage.
Fight-
As the sun rises on Isla Sorna, a Deltadromeus wakes up and stretches his long legs. He moves off to a nearby watering hole and splashes cool water on his face to wake himself up more. After he does this, he moves off to find prey. He eventually finds a flock of Dryosaurus and gives chase. As he chases the herbivores, he leaves his own territory without realizing it. He's about to catch up with one when the lead Dryosaurus is suddenly snatched up right before his eyes. The Deltadromeus stops dead in his tracks as a large, male Albertosaurus crushes the small herbivore with one quick bite. The tyrannosaur tosses the carcass of to the side and roars at the intruder. The Deltadromeus roars back and challenges the tyrannosaur for the territory. The Albertosaurus uses his height advantage to assert his dominance and roars again, flashing his long teeth. The Deltadromeus raises the small spines on the back of his neck in an aggressive demeanor. Then, the Albertosaurus attacks. He lunges forward and snaps his jaws inches from the ceratosaur's face. It was a mock charge. The Albertosaurus knows he's somewhat smarter than the ceratosaur, and does a few more mock charges in order to confuse the Deltadromeus. After three more, he finally follows threw and the Deltadromeus is not ready. His jaws close on the ceratosaur's shoulder and tear it open clear to bone. The Deltadromeus roars in pain and lashes out with his hand claws. He catches the Albertosaurus in the lower jaw and sends him reeling in pain. The Deltadromeus leaps forward, then sidesteps. He slashes the Albertosaurus' flank with his teeth, only to get slammed in the face by the tyrannosaur's tail. The Deltadromeus staggers back and spits out a few teeth. The tyrannosaur uses his size and shoves the ceratosaur to the ground. Resilient as rubber, the Deltadromeus jumps back up and attacks. He goes for the Albertosaurus' throat, but the tyrannosaur swings his head and smashes the Deltadromeus in the face. One of the Albertosaurus' crests however gets lodged in the ceratosaur's eye, taking it out. The Deltadromeus leaps backwards and screams in pain as blood gushes from the injury. In a fit of absolute rage, he jumps forward and manages to get on the tyrannosaur's side. He clamps down onto the back of the Albertosaurus' neck and slashes his flank with his claws. Time after time, the Deltadromeus rakes his toe claws down the flank of the Albertosaurus. The Albertosaurus roars in pain and tries to shake the ceratosaur off. But he can't. Then, he sees something that he can use. A large tree stands just a few yards away. With a sudden jerk, he smashes the Deltadromeus into the tree. The Deltadromeus falls off and hits the ground hard. His light build played against him. One of his ribs has pierced a lung and he's having trouble breathing. The Albertosaurus plants a foot on the ceratosaur and takes it's head in his jaws. The Deltadromeus thinks, "It'll all be over soon," and with a quick twist, the Albertosaurus snaps the ceratosaur's neck. The tyrannosaur roars in triumph. He then walks over to the dead Dryosaurus and swallows it whole. That was the appetizer. He then turns his attention to his dead rival. The Albertosaurus walks over and rips the stomach cavity open. Blood and guts pour out onto the ground as the tyrannosaur shoves his face in. He lifts his blood covered snout up, the Deltadroumeus' liver in his jaws. He swallows the liver and continues to feast.
Winner- Albertosaurus

While not quite as fast as the Deltadromeus, the Albertosaurus was much larger and stronger. The Deltadromeus did put up a fight, but the Albertosaurus was much better suited to heavy combat. In the ultimate contest between speed and size, size won big.
