Welcome to DeltaFights! We have Utahraptor vs Deltadromeus, two very similar dinosaurs. I will admit, they are my two favorites, and that's why they are fighting in the first round. Also, I'm not going to change the fact that I like one dino more than the other alter the end result. The fight writes itself, and I don't know until the end who will win myself. Haha Competitor Profile: Utahraptor Length: 25 feet Height: Hips 6, Head 8 Weight: 1550 lbs Weapons: Brain, 3 inch teeth, 5 inch hand claws, 12 inch toe claws, speed Prey: Iguanadonts its own size or smaller, sometimes scavenging Habitat: Forest Behavior: Utahraptor is mostly an ambush hunter, running at top speed for a short distance, and then jumping on its side. Then it uses its long claws to cut deep gouges in the flesh. It then jumps off very quickly and waits for its prey to die of bloodloss. In close combat though, it is a different story. Its a naturally cautious animal, and it surprisingly doesn't prefer to fight. This is most likely due to its large brain. It is not as primitive as some used to think, and it turns out that it has the brainpower of a wolf or lion, and also learns very quickly. When fighting, it will try to end it quickly by attacking the legs and belly. Its arm flexibility is rather good for a dinosaur, but is only average for a raptor. They live in packs of family, and nothing more. The parent, children, and maybe a sibling, but that isn't often. Its not the fasted raptor, peaking at barely 30 mph, but its thick legs gives it amazing endurance, and another one of its strategies is to run its prey to exhaustion. They rely heavily on sight and hearing for their attacks. They vocalize very often and it seems like they talk to each other. Their talk is hard to hear, and they are fairly camouflaged against light forest and drier land, but in spring, is given away by bright red head plumes. Deltadromeus Length: 28 feet Height: 8 Hips, 9.7 Head, Full Recurved Neck 11 Weight: 1700 lbs Weapons: Speed, size, agility, 4 inch knifelike teeth, 3 inch hand claws Prey: Ouranosaurus, young Aegyptosaurus, carrion, fish, crocodiles, smaller carnivores Habitat: River Behavior: Deltadromeus lives in small packs like Utahraptor. It is a very advanced Ceratosaur, and has a considerably large brain compared to the Allosaurs, but it is still more primitive than the Tyrannosaurs. It holds its neck slanted slightly upwards, but rarely in an S shape. It has a very long and thin neck, so if it does recurve its neck fully, then its height rivals some of the smaller species of Allosaurus. It is a very fast runner and has been clocked to be 45 mph, but it is thought to have gone faster. It can run for a long time too, most likely so that it can escape the territory of a large carnivore very quickly and just keep running to avoid any other contest with it. They seem to be very vicious fighters, but they don't attack unless threatened. Although, they have an unusual tendency to hunt down carnivores of similar size and attack them. It is hard to scare them because they are used to size imitations, and can see through those disguises. It seems like they are great swimmers with their sleek body and strong tail. They attack from a distance, using smell as a main factor. Because they are the fasted dinosaurs by far of their environment, they don't bother ambushing, and they aren't camouflaged in the slightest. Roll of the Dice: 3, River The river is not too fast, and has very, very large banks. For a while it is shallow, not more than a foot or two, but then is takes a fairly sudden drop. This drop goes down nearly 20 feet, and is 17 feet wide. Fight!! A Deltadromeus leans over drink from the shallows. It is a hot day and he is going to go for a refreshing swim. The Deltadromeus walks over the the deep part of the river and dives in. The shallow water is crystal clear, but the deeper part is a bit more murky and has a faster moving current. The Deltadromeus is swept downstream a bit before he expertly gets back I to the shallows. As he raises his head out of the water, he sees a Utahraptor drinking from the river. Its not even in the water, so the Deltadromeus just ignores it. When the Utahraptor looks up, he sees the Deltadromeus, and becomes agitated. He backs up away from the water, and watches the Deltadromeus's reaction, nothing. The Utahraptor returns to drinking, and after he is done, he decides to stay around the river and observe the Deltadromeus. The Utahraptor so cautious, but it is in his nature to be curious too, and this time, curiosity gets the best of him. He watches as the Deltadromeus fishes and swims. After a few hours of watching, the Utahraptor steps into the water and decides to use what he learned to try and swim. The Deltadromeus can tell that the Utahraptor is in the water, and starts to get a little irritated, but decided that he can share the river for a little bit. The Utahraptor walks into deeper and deeper water. The water gets up to his thighs when he takes another step and falls into the deep part of the water. The Utahraptor gives a surprised yelp and then goes under. When he finally comes up, he is holding a fish in his mouth. When the Deltadromeus sees this, he gets angry. The Deltadromeus has put up with the Utahraptor for a while, but now that it took one of his fish, that crosses the line, and the Deltadromeus roars at the Utahraptor. The Utahraptor drops the fish and runs out of the river, but doesn't go far from the water's edge. Despite the Deltadromeus's roars, the Utahraptor stays where he is, and follows the Ceratosaur as he walks up and down the river. Finally, the Deltdromeus can't take it. His anger and territorial sense takes over and he charges the Utahraptor. The Utahraptor has been anticipating this for a while now and knows that this river is a very good territory to have, and after testing it for a while, he has decided that he wants it. The Utahraptor made sure not to make the first move and just see how the Deltadromeus fights. This is his large brain at work, and it is one of the main advantages of being a raptor, even though he doesn't have brute strength on his side. The Deltadromeus gets very close to the Utahraptor before the raptor moves to the side. The Deltadromeus turns very quickly and before the Utahraptor can react, the Deltadromeus slashes at his face. The Utahraptor is more suprised than hurt, but then he runs back and rethinks his plan. He had completely underestimated his opponent, but he isn't going to back down. He looks at the Deltadromeus, who (what a surprise) is running at him. The Utahraptor makes a quick move and lashes out with his unusually long hand claws. The Deltadromeus tries to slow down but he runs right into the Utahraptor's long and deadly hand claws. Three deep wounds are cut in the chest of the Deltadromeus, but that's not the worst of the injuries. The Utahraptor sees that the Deltadromeus has a thin neck, especially near the base of the neck. The Utahraptor lashes out with his neck like a snake and catches the Deltadromeus's neck in his jaws. The Deltadromeus roars and jerks away from the Utahraptor, but relatively deep wounds have already been inflicted. The Deltadromeus lunges at the Utahraptor and bites down on its back. His long Ceratosaurus-like teeth slashing the flesh to bits. The Utahraptor tries to slash the Deltadromeus, but the nimble Ceratosaur backs up just in time to avoid the claws. The Utahraptor then turns tail and runs into the shallows of the river. The Deltadromeus follows him in, and uses his superior speed,to catch him. Then, the Delta jumps onto the Utahraptor, knocking him over and breaking many of his bones. The Utahraptor has a long enough head to keep its nose above the water as he lashes out with his leg. He managers to hit the Deltadromeus square in the side. Feeling this, the giant raptor brings his toe claw down. The 1 foot blade cuts through the flesh like nothing. The Utahraptor then rakes his giant to claw across the Deltadromeus's side, leaving a very deep and very long gash. The Utahraptor kicks, out again, btu the Deltadromeus has learned his lesson. The toe claw is deadly, and it was cutting across his ribs. Much more of that and the Delta would be in some serious trouble. The Utahraptor gets an idea that will end the battle quick. He tries to get up, but as he is standing, the Deltadromeus bites down on the back of his neck and thrusts his nose underwater. The Utahraptor is forced to breath through his mouth, and he really doesn't like to do that, and isn't experienced at it. The Deltadromeus sees that his trying to drown the Utahraptor like this isn't going to work, so he gets a firm hold on the Utahraptor's neck, and then throws him into the deep water. The Utahraptor can barely keep his nose above the current as he is washed downstream. The first time he fell in he knew where the edge was, and it wasn't much more than 6 feet deep. This time, it was easily double that, and the current was a lot stronger here. The Deltadromeus then dives into the water and like a crocodile chasing a floating carcass swims with the current to quickly close the distance between he and his prey. The Utahraptor is panicking. He is swinging his tail and kicking his legs, but his thin claws and short toes aren't helping, and his tail barely keeps his nose above the water. His eyes are submerged, and everything is all blurry to him. As the Deltadromeus gets near the Utahraptor, the water turns red with blood, and it is hard for the Delta to see. He then feels a great force hit his side and feels his ribs being scraped by the flailing toe claw of the Utahraptor. The Utahraptor keeps kicking and keeps hitting his mark. Finally, the Deltadromeus decides to get out of the water before he attracts crocodiles. The Utahraptor has a stroke of luck and he moves to the side of the deeper water. His feet touch the ground, and he manages to get into the shallow water. He looks around for the Deltadromeus. When he finds him, the Utahraptor feels very good. He made many, many long gashes across the Delta's side, and the water around the Deltadromeus is stained red with blood. The Deltadromeus looks at the Utahraptor with hatred in his eyes, and then lets out a long and painful roar. The Deltadromeus has lost a lot of blood and is losing blood at a very fast rate. The Utahraptor runs at the Deltadromeus this time, but the Delta swings his arm and hits the Utahraptor square on the snout, breaking the bone like it was a toothpick. The Deltadromeus then lunges for the Utahraptor and bites down one his shoulder. The Utahraptor screams in pain, and then kicks. The kick misses the Deltadromeus, but it was enough to remind the Ceratosaur of what a precarious position he was in. The Deltadromeus backs up very quickly, and then steps on a crab. The crab makes the Deltadromeus jump up, but even before it lands, the Utahraptor is moving. He jumps and lands on the Deltadromeus in mid air, and the two land on bank, rolling over each other. Finally, the Utahraptor is sent flying off and rolls up the bank even more. The Deltadromeus tries to get up, but finds that his legs are broken very bad, and the loss of blood makes his muscles too tired to work without support. The Utahraptor was a bit better off, and manages to get up. He then walks over to the Deltadromeus, and puts his foot near the base of the Ceratosaur's neck. To the Deltadromeus, everything seems to move in slow motion. The giant toe claw coming down like an ax. It hitting the flesh, a surge of pain, and then absolute agony and spasms. The Detladromeus gives a loud death cry, then, like what follows any death cry, the Deltadromeus slumps, and is dead. The Utahraptor has severed is neck an severed one vertebra from another. The Utahraptor gives a triumphant roar, and knows that this is now his territory, and he will defend it from anyone who says otherwise. Winner.... Utahraptor!! Deltadromeus was bigger and faster, but not as smart, and the Utahraptor's planning is what saved his life from the beginning. Then it was basically just who had the deadlier weapons, and today, that goes to Utahraptor.

Pretty good. Personally, I don't really favor one over the other and they are very evenly matched, so I really wasn't sure who would win.

Great fight. I was rooting too for Utahraptor. Even if I honestly feel sorry for the Delta's death...

Glad you liked it. The next one won't be of the best quality, but I still think it'll be good

Very even match. Utahraptor had weaponry to counter the small size advantage, so I think the outcome is appropriate. Nice job! 8/10.
