MemberCompsognathusAug-25-2013 12:26 PMMasiakasaurus was an Abelisaur from Madagascar. It had long arms, unlike Abelisaurs, and one of the strangest jaws of the dinosaur world.

Masiakasaurus's lower jaw had long, conical teeth that probably helped the dinosaur catch fish. It lived int the same time and place as Magungasaurus, but is only about three feet tall and seven long. This is one of the dinosaurs that count as a lesser known, and not much is know abut this guy. Despite its arms, it was an Abelisaur, and should have a place as one of the strangest dinosaurs out there.

MemberCompsognathusAug-25-2013 12:28 PMWell, that last pic was accidental. I was hoping it would be this,

I just hope you can figure out how to get to it. I'll replace it with a link later.

MemberCompsognathusAug-25-2013 2:15 PMA classic case of convergent evolution, in this case between spinosaurs and abelisaurs.
Perhaps the horror mouth was an abelisaur as well.

MemberCompsognathusAug-25-2013 2:39 PMOr that Masiakasaurus was a Spinosaur. And I don't think that horror was an Abelisaur. And as for bite force, maybe Kaymen level, but Kaymen are from South America, not Madagascar.

MemberCompsognathusAug-25-2013 3:13 PMAre you sure about it having caiman bite force? That's pretty high. Black caiman bite with a force of over 3 tons at large sizes.
Also, just a fun fact, Purussaurus could have bit down with a force of over 20 tons! High estimates say nearing 40... That's freaking impressive...
Anyway, I'd say pretty weak bite, less than 1,000 lbs, about 500 psi. Less than lion and great white.

MemberCompsognathusAug-25-2013 5:04 PMI see it having a bite force comparable to that of Velociraptor. Velociraptor actually has a pretty strong bite, about the same as a lion or jaguar. Interesting dinosaur.

MemberCompsognathusAug-26-2013 12:07 PMProbably not that powerful of a bite. Below Carnotaurus level, perhaps?

MemberCompsognathusAug-26-2013 3:50 PMAbelisaurs are weird. Some are little, a few are big, almost all of them have short faces and arms.
But Masiakasaurus is especially weird. Lookin like a tiny Suchomimus.... Or horror mouth :D

MemberCompsognathusFeb-12-2014 8:29 AMFun Fact: Lions have the weakest bite out of all big cats (Pumas weren't measured yet). They kill by damaging the jugular of their prey.
Fun Fact: Jaguars have the strongest bite, in comparison to body size, out of all big cats.
