Deltadromeus vs Diplodocus
Deltadromeus
This large carnivore was up to 25 ft long and nearly 2 tons. Their long legs suggest that they could run quickly, up to 30 miles per hour or more. Deltadromeus also had sharp teeth and long claws.

Diplodocus
Although this giant reached nearly 100 ft in length, it was very light weight, weighing only 15-20 tons. That said, these dinosaurs were still very large and their whip like tails were deadly weapons.

Fight
A lone bull Diplodocus is feeding in a small clearing surrounded by a thick line of trees. In the tree line, a pair of Deltadromeus size up their intended victim. The mated pair come up with a simple plan. Using their speed, they leap out of the trees and attack the bull before it has time to react. They are attacking it's flanks before it realizes anything happened. Using their long claws on both hands and feet, the carnivores slash the sauropod with their teeth. The bull bellows in pain. In an effort to get rid of his attackers, he shakes his giant body and manages to throw them off. The two predators hit the ground hard. Because of their light frame, they break a number of bones. The male gets up and leaps on the back of the sauropod again and bites the back of it's neck. The female attacks from behind. She slashes his back legs with her claws. The bull fights back and swings the tip of his tail at her. The whip like tail causes a searing pain in her side and it even bleeds a little. Enraged, she goes in underneath his and attacks his stomach. Big mistake. The bull rears up on his back legs, doing this throws the male off, and towers above the female. Before she has time to run, he comes down and crushes her beneath his weight. The male is on his own. Instead of fleeing, he continues the attack. He rushes in and slashes the sauropod's shoulder. The giant dinosaur shoves the male away with his body. The Deltadromeus leaps on it's back again. Using his claws, he tries to make his way up to the head of the sauropod. The bull shakes his neck wildly to try and throw off the carnivore. It takes some doing, but he manages to throw the male off. He manages to land on his feet, although somewhat dazed. When he regains his focus, he sees the bull making a run for it. The Deltadromeus does not have to use half his speed to catch up. As he pulls up alongside the sauropod's tail, he realizes he made a fatal error. The bull swings his massive tail and strikes the predator in the flank. The Deltadromeus is sent flying 20 yards away. The impact of the tail and the fall sends his own humerus deep into his chest, piercing his heart. The Diplodocus bellows loudly and then moves on. Although bleeding heavily, he will survive.
Winner- Diplodocus

The Diplodocus was too big for the Deltadromeus to take down. Even in a pair. Their speed worked against them. They were too lightly built and could break bones easily.
Next time on Clash of Impossibilities

MemberCompsognathusJul-21-2013 8:40 PMPoor delta, what were they thinking. The only way I could think of them attacking a sauropod is if it was a juvinile.

MemberCompsognathusJul-22-2013 11:48 AMThanks. I tried to let the Deltas get some good blows in, but they were kinda doomed from the beginning.
