Tyrannosaurus rex vs Ankylosaurus
Tyrannosaurus
One of the greatest predators ever, T-rex was over 43-50 ft long and weighed in at 7-10 tons! With it's deadly combination of brain and brawn, T-rex was the unrivaled king of the North.

Ankylosaurus
These 20-26 ft long, 3-4 tons living tanks had little to fear. Their impressive suit of armor and deadly tail club made these dinosaurs immune from most attacks. Most.

Fight
A large bull Ankylosaurus is feeding on a small bush. It's been a month since an asteroid struck the earth and this bull has been having trouble finding enough food to keep himself alive. He is quickly weakening. Suddenly, a thunderous roar splits the still air. The bull looks up to see a massive Tyrannosaurus charging straight for him. This Rex is desperate for fresh meat and is willing to tangle with even an Ankylosaurus. The bull squats as low to the ground as possible, he is trying to protect his soft belly. The Rex faces the bull looking for an opening. He lowers his head to try and get under the living tank, but it's no good. He can't get his jaws low enough. Instead, he slashes the bull's front left leg with his large toe claws. This has a much more serious effect than the Rex first realized. The bull can no longer lower itself as close to the ground as possible. The Rex attempts to do the same thing with the back legs. However, as he extends his foot, the bull shifts his body and slams the Rex's ankle. He drives one of the spikes on his armor deep into the Rex's leg. While not a serious injury, in a world recovering from a global catastrophe, infection is a real problem. The Rex moves back to the front of the bull. He makes a semi-reckless move and bites the head of the bull. It's a win-lose situation. The Rex breaks numerous teeth on the bull's head armor, but succeeds in causing injury. The tyrannosaur's lower teeth went deep into the lower jaw of the bull and actually went into it's mouth. The Rex stands up and discovers a piece of ankylosaur tongue stuck to one of his teeth. If dinosaurs could laugh, this Rex would be on his back, dying of laughter. Then, things get serious again. The Rex attempts to attack the bull's back legs again. This time, he gets to close to the tail. The ankylosaur swings his tail and makes contact. The tail club slams into the Rex's leg, just under the knee. However, after weeks of little food, the blow has almost no effect. It causes little more than a bruise and simply fuels the predator's rage. The Rex realizes that, after swinging it's tail, the bull is slightly higher off the ground. He is able to get his nose under the ankylosaur and flip him onto his back. The helpless bull looks on as the Rex places his foot on the bull's stomach. He rakes his massive, 10 inch toe claws down the bull's stomach, spilling his intestines. The tyrannosaur roars in triumph. This victory will be short lived though. The reign of the dinosaurs is already over and even the most notorious flesh-eater will eventually succumb to mother nature.
Winner- Tyrannosaurus, for now

The ankylosaur put up a good fight, but the lack of food had weakened it too much. After the impact, the predators did relatively well with so many carcasses around. The herbivores struggled though and it made them easier targets. Even this living tank could not stop that.

Hi

MemberCompsognathusJul-08-2013 3:22 PMThanks. I knew that a T-rex would have some trouble taking on a healthy Ankylosaurs, so I used the environment to level the playing field, so to speak.
PS- Hope you guys liked the pics.

MemberCompsognathusJul-08-2013 9:43 PMWith your size estimates I agree with these results but at the high end estimates for Anky and Rex (35 & 43 feet, respectively) I'd give it to Anky.

MemberTyrannosaurus RexJul-08-2013 10:02 PMThing is though, unless it was desperate and had no other choice, Rex probably wouldn't have dared attack one in real life in the first place.

MemberCompsognathusJul-09-2013 5:25 AMGood fight, although I think that Ankylosaurus would win.

MemberCompsognathusJul-09-2013 8:46 AMOne thing that favored Rex was the fact that Anky was weakened by lack of food. I agree, even a fully grown Tyrannosaurus would probably not attack a healthy, adult Ankylosaurus.
