Ancient Lives:Episode 1: Decimating Sea

Hello all! This is the premier of my new series Ancient Lives! Today we will be visiting the life of an Anomolicaris in the Cambrian period. Decimating Sea Cara, an unborn Anomolicaris had know nothing but darkness for as long as she had known, but now she was instinctively breaking free from her warm soft chamber. Tha cave she was laid in was dark and dismal, but the light from the nearbly mouth of the cave stunned her eyes. When her eyes finally adjusted to the light, Cara looked around to realized that there were hundreds of her siblings swimming around her. They were all swimming out of the mouth of the cave into the unknown, and instinctively, Cara did the same. When she had reached her destination which was the seafloor, Cara had tired out. Her body was not used to swimming, so she layed down of the ocean floor with hundreds more of her siblings. At only about a half inch long, her siblings and Cara are heavily predated upon, so they need to find creative ways to stay alive. Suddenly, Cara feels vibrations all around her and knows something is coming. However, she is too tired to move, and just continues to lay upon the ocean floor. Then, a huge two foot long Trilobite appears. Cara is far away from it, but in order to avoid death she still has to move. Cara manages to swim to safety at the last second possible, and looks back to see the Trilobite eat every single Anomolicaris baby unfortunate enough to stay on the ocean floor. Cara and her fiteen surviving siblings are swimming to safety in the form of a convoy. Suddenly a trio of Opabinia slam into and consume the first three Anomolicaris babies in the convoy group. Then, out of nowhere thirty more Opabinia appear, and cause a huge swirling frenzy. Cara is confused in the chaos and is slammed into by one of her siblings, stunning her. As she slowly sinks to the bottom, Cara narrowly misses an oncoming Opabinia. When Cara comes to her senses, she realizes that the Opabinia is coming back. Cara panicks and dives deep as fast as she can. The Opabinia is about four inches long, fully grown, and much stronger that Cara. As Cara picks up speed the Opabinia begins to catch up to her. Then Cara sees the sea floor and accelerates. Cara then pulls up at the last possible second and the Opabinia slams into the ground and is split in half by the force of the impact. Cara feeds off the bodie and her three surviving brethren soon join her. These lucky four have survived their first day. Two Years Later Cara and her three siblings are about a foot long, and are juveniles now. Cara is living with two other females and a male. One female is all black and is named Gloss. Another female is black with white specks and is named Flake. The male is missing a propulsion flipper from the Opabinia ambush and is named Greff. Swimming slowly and conservatively, Cara is looking for food. Suddenly she spots a Pikai. At five inches the Pikai should be suitable meal, and Cara has the perfect cover from the rocky undersea cliff. She bolts forward with amazing speed, opens her mouth disk, and sucks in half the Pikai. Gloss is soon on the scene however, and does not approve. Gloss slams into Cara, stunning her, and then puts half the Pikai into her mouth disk. The two tug of war over it until the Pikai rips in half, and the two eat thier fill. Greff soon arrives to find no Pikai, and Flake (Slow to the draw) is just now going over to the shelf to meet with her siblings. Then Cara spots movement below Flake and realizes that it is a four foot, fully grown Male Anomolicaris, and it is targeting Flake. Then the male accelerates, slams into Flake's underbelly, and kills her instantly. The now trio, move on quickly, because male Anomolicaris always have room for more... One Year Later Cara and Gloss are the only ones left of the five hundred and fifty two hatchlings that started out that day. About seven months ago, Greff instinctively left the two females to make his own in the world, but his missing fin slowed him down too much, and he shortly after died of starvation. Cara is three and a half feet long and practically untouchable by Camvrian standards. She spots a Trilobite and scoops it up with ease. She immediately begins to consume the Trilobite carcass. Suddenly, pheromones kick in and Cara is urged to go to a location, just five hundred feet away, to a group of female Anomolicaris. It's mating season and Cara is old enough to compete this year. Cara is a newcomer, and in order to prove her strength she is pitted against the alpha female from last year. The tensions rise, and the fight mutually begins. The two opponents circle each other until the alpha female strikes Cara's lefft flank, injuring her. Cara however is much younger, and dodges the alpha females second attack. Cara then turns the tables and slams into the alpha females side so hard that she hears a split and tastes blood. Cara has split in the alpha females armor, and won the match. Cara is now the alpha female, but she has one more challenger. Gloss. The only surviving sibling Cara has she now has to fight for supremacy. The two circle each other, until Gloss strikes first, cracking Cara's armor, and grasping her skull and pulling back. Gloss is trying to break Cara in half. Cara's body is now searing with pain, but she manages to squirm away, and swim off. Gloss is now the alpha female, and begins to pick suiters. Suddenly, Cara slams into Gloss, and breaksin Gloss's armour, the Cara grasps, Gloss's head, and pulls back until she feels a sharp crack. The blood tells Cara the fight is over, and she watches as Gloss's two halves sink to the ocean floor. An hour later Cara is swimming away with hudreds of fertilized eggs inside her body. She will lay them in a few months, then die. In the process she will create a new generation ready to take on the Decimating Sea There ya go! HOpe you liked it!
