Spinosaurus vs Aegyptosaurus
Spinosaurus
56 ft long, 7 tons
Spino was by far the longest land carnivore ever. Known as the pharaoh of Africa, Spinosaurus had little competition except Carcharodontosaurus and Sarcosuchus. Because of these super-predators, Spino had to be tough.

Aegyptosaurus
50-60 ft long, 15-20 tons
Aegyptosaurus was an average sized sauropod. It was still large nonetheless. Like other titanosaurs, it probably had armor on it's back for protection against large carnivores. It also could have used the toe claw that every sauropod had on it's front feet.

Fight-
A large female Spinosaurus is returning to her territory after a morning of fishing. She found a good spot and the only competition was a young Suchomimus which did not pose much of a threat. As she moves through the jungle, she comes across a clearing. In the center, is a nest. Eggs are not part of her usual diet, but the female spinosaur is in a good mood and decides to try some. The first one she swallows whole. Very little taste. She breaks the shell of the next one with her teeth. That tastes much better. She is about to partake in a third, when a loud bellow echoes through the forest. The spinosaur turns to see an enraged Aegyptosaurus. The sauropod stamps her feet in frustration. The spinosaur decides to have some fun. She growls softly as if saying "Come and get me." The sauropod is even more angry and charges forward. The Aegyptosaur is not built for speed and the spinosaur easily side-steps. However, the sauropod lashes out at the last second with her tail. It stings the spinosaur and now she is angry. The female spinosaur faces the sauropod and comes up with a plan. She changes the color of her sail from dull brown to bright red. It has the desired effect, as the sauropod is confused, her small brain unable to process the situation. The spinosaur takes advantage of the situation and charges. When it looks like the two giants are going to slam into each other, the female spinosaur steps to the side and slashes the herbivore down the shoulder. She then follows through by biting the sauropods back. This backfires though. The Aegyptosaurus' armor protects it and the spinosaur breaks many of it's teeth. The giant predator roars in pain and frustration. The sauropod sends her tail flying and smacks the spinosaur right in the lower jaw. This breaks not only more teeth, but her jaw as well. The spinosaur steps back and then charges. The herbivore rears up on her back legs. She comes back down at the last minute and, while she does not crush the spinosaur, she does blind it in one eye with her large toe claw. However, the spinosaur continues the charge slamming right into the titan. While the sauropod struggles to get up, the spinosaur shakes her head back and forth to get the blood out of her face. She then sees the struggling herbivore and walks over. The spinosaur places her hands on the side of the Aegyptosaurus and rakes her claws down it's flank and stomach. The sauropod looks on helplessly as the predator eats her liver while she is still alive. She soon dies. The Spinosaurus roars in victory. Despite her great effort, she does not eat the rest of the carcass. She is not hungry and must address her injuries first. She leaves the carcass for scavengers like the pair of Rugops that just showed up.
Winner- Spinosaurus

The Aegyptosaurus may have been heavier, but the spinosaur has better weaponry.
Next time on Clash of Giants-
Giganotosaurus was the unrivaled king of South America. The biggest predator that ever walked the continent. But it also lived with South America's biggest plant eater, Argentinosaurus. So what happens when the two meet? Find out next time, on Clash of Giants.

MemberTyrannosaurus RexJul-01-2013 3:25 PMGood fight. I don't think that sauropods would be protective of their nests though.
Good teaser for the next one.

MemberCompsognathusJul-01-2013 3:25 PMAmazing, just one thing. I didn't think Spino was plan making smart. Besides that one thing, amazing.

MemberCompsognathusJul-01-2013 3:31 PMI did the protective thing and plan making as a bit of a creative addition. Kind of like the poisonous Dilos. I keep it as accurate as possible, but I do need to throw some things like that in there to make it interesting. Glad you like the fight and the teaser.

MemberCompsognathusJul-01-2013 3:45 PMAll stories need some, as you put it, creative addition. I think I commonly underestimate or overestimate something's abilities, but, Spino could actually be that smart, we don't know.
Hi

MemberCompsognathusJul-01-2013 3:50 PMIt's hard to say. It was certainly smarter than the sauropod it was fighting.

Hi
Rex Fan 684
MemberCompsognathusJul-01-2013 4:11 PMYou got that right. They operated almost purely on instinct.

MemberCompsognathusJul-01-2013 4:19 PMYour insulting some of the earliest animals, I think some of them were smarter than sauropods. Maybe Anomalacarus.
Hi
Lord Vader
MemberTyrannosaurus RexJul-01-2013 4:24 PMSo it's possible that they got dumber with evolution? I guess they traded brains for size. Dinosaurs weren't that bright in general. T-Rex, probably the smartest of the large carnivores, was no smarter than a house cat..

MemberCompsognathusJul-01-2013 4:25 PMT-rex was about as smart as a house cat and Velociraptors were probably as smart as wolves. Allosaurus, you're average large theropod, was probably as smart as a croc.

MemberCompsognathusJul-01-2013 8:28 PMIntelligence isn't always based on brain size. While a possum or something has a brain twice as large as a house cat's they're only about half as smart. I wouldn't say T-Rex is as smart as a house cat, because cats are some of the smartest animals alive today. You never know though... Great job on the fight!

MemberCompsognathusJan-19-2014 10:31 AMAssuming this is at max weights, the sauropod should actually be able to win, rather easily. The ability for spinosaurus to kill large animals depends on its sheer size advantage in most cases. Its snout was very strong, but it was designed for gripping large fish as opposed to killing animals much larger than itself. It did not possess macropredatory characteristics that we see in animals like allosaurus and carcharodontosaurus which include: deeper rostra designed for vertical killing, thin and serrated teeth (for cutting and ripping; this opposes those of spinosaurus which were thicker and conical being designed for piercing and gripping), and snout anatomy that is poorly adapted for gripping.
