The carcharodontosaurs were a group of dinosaurs that were closely related to and considered by some to be, including myself, to the allosaurs. These large carnivores are moderately famous. Allosaurus, close relative of the carcharodontosaurs Carcharodontosaurus= 40 ft long, 5-6 tons One of the largest predators that ever lived in Africa. This predator likely competed with Spinosaurus for food. Acrocanthosaurus= 36 ft long, 3-4 tons Some consider this predator to be a spinosaur or perhaps the forerunner of the group. This is not universally accepted though. What is accepted is the fact that this was one big predator. Giganotosaurus= 43-46 ft long, 6-8 tons Giganotosaurus is the largest member of this family. It's also a contender for the title of largest land carnivore ever. Questions? Comments? *Sizes based on my estimates and theories.

Estimates go as high as 40 ft, but they average about 33-36 ft.

Sometimes the littlest detail can set some people off so I decided to include that at the end of my posts that mention size.

I agree Charcarodontosaurus. Btw, I've made the mistake too, but you're spelling the name wrong. It's Carcharodontosaurus. It is just a CA at the front. The CHA comes second. We Car char fans need to stick together!
