MemberCompsognathusApr-10-2013 11:12 PMI believe that there should be an ocean scene with a new ocean predator . . . Liopleurodon and Megalodon should have a fight around a ship, maybe?

MemberCompsognathusApr-11-2013 4:15 AMIf JP4 takes place in one of the islands we already know (Isla Nublar & Ilsa Sorna), I don't think there could be a new superpredator... Ingen already created Tyrannosaurus and Spinosaurus, and that's enough, 3 species of giant carnivores just couldn't live together on such small islands... But to hell logic and continuity, I'd really like to see Carnotaurus. I know it was not as big as T. Rex, but it was still 9 meters long, and it was a very swift runner, it had two big horns on its head and its neck and jaws were designed to deliver quick slashing wounds. Carnotaurus just seems to be a very cool dinosaur to include in a movie. Also, I like the idea of an ocean predator, but I don't see how it could fit in the movie... Ingen just would not have created a monster that could have swum away and attack every fisherman it met... Not very discreet! But still awesome!

MemberCompsognathusApr-19-2013 7:16 PMI think Acrocanthosaurus. Besides a large mouth like trex or giga, It had large claws that it used to take down larger Dinos like sauropods (brachio could be attacked) and it has a little spine on its back like Spino, but it kills in a whole nother way.

MemberCompsognathusApr-19-2013 7:22 PMThanks, JVANNEST! I forgot about dapsletosaurus, a close relative of tyrannosaurus, they could duke it out bc daps had longer arms but Trex was still heavier.

MemberCompsognathusMay-14-2013 10:40 AMi personally liked spinosaurus but if they introduce a new predator i would like gigantasaurus or some other large therapod that is almost 40 feet or more long.

The new predator doesn't have to be huge, it can be an elusive creature with a peculiar ability like the chameleon like effect of carnotaurus in the TLW novel. I think it can bring great suspenseful moments to the JP movie and stay original/true to the source material.

I would definitely love to see an underwater predator. It hasn't been done before (at least in respect to JP) and it could create suspense and thrill for audiences. It would certainly help Trevorrow and crew to deliver on an "epic" scale. However I think having a fight between two MASSIVE underwater creatures would take up too much screen space and possibly add a cheesy factor. One predator swimming around causing chaos is plenty, in my opinion.
@Bombillazo
I also agree that the predator doesn't have to be big to be epic!
Thanks everyone for your input!

MemberCompsognathusDec-16-2013 4:54 AMBefore I give my hopes for a new superpredator, I would like to point out that Allosaurus wasn't as small of a carnivore as people seem to think. Two dinosaurs, both Saurophaganax and Epanterias, were the biggest carnivorous dinosaurs of the Jurassic (alongside Torvosaurus). They were easily the same size as predators like Tyrannosaurs. And both Saurophaganax and Epanterias are likely actually new species Allosaurus, as recent studies have shown. This would mean if Allosaurus was featured in a Jurassic Park film, the producers would be more than capable of masking it size up against a T-rex, and maybe even a Spino.
However, the superpredator I would love to see in the new JP is Mapusaurus, or a similar Giganotosaurid (like Giganotosaurus or Carcharodontosaurus). Mapusaur's were killing machines, and would of preyed on massive sauropods, such as Saltasaurus and Argentinosaurus if they hunted in packs (which they likely did). I would also like to see some dinosaurs from the original JP novels, like Carnotaurus with it's made up chameleon ability, and Apatosaurus as the new giant. And why not include the Nodosaurid, Crichtonsaurus. I mean, it was named after Michael Crichton (the author of the Jurassic Park and Lost World novels) after all!
