i have a feeling its going to be a male rex in the movie but thats just my opinion. they could also have both a male and female
I wouldn't doubt that's the design that'll be used.
IKR. It is semi aquatic wich means it would have extra support for his weight. 4 tons is utterly ridiculous for an animal of its size . Why do people even say that. It was a bout 9 to 11 tons on my books because the water could support the weight.
OH MY GOD THIS WOULD BE AWESOME IN THE MOVIE WE NEED THIS. Thanks for sharing this! :)
These were amazing! You already shared the Planet Dinosaur one, and it's still my favorite!
Here's another good one:
@Something Real, A safari would be AWESOME!
Nice list! Im happy Spino is still the largest. :)
REX FAN 684 - How very neat! Thank you ever so much for sharing this with us! :)
EVAN123 - Hahaha! I know exactly what you mean, sweetie! Every idea for that franchise has thus far come to a less than pleasing fruition! I can't imagine what the insurrance policy for a safari like that would be like! :)
Loving this list, especially with Spinosaurus on top. Before it's revision I guestimated it to weigh between 7-8 tons, but with the new information, the increased weight range makes sense. (Semi) aquatic creatures do weigh more, and the water works as a great support of its mass.
Why don't people expect spino to be first?
Now that is something that could be really very interesting, SOMETHING REAL, an exclusive ride so to speak, that would be incredible, although this is Jurassic Park, I can't see it working out, haha!
Awsome list, didnt expect the spino at first with all the people claiming it at 4 tons or less :p But does this weight mean the spino is really sluggish on land, I really cant imagine the new spino running! :3
CARNOSAUR - How very neat! I definately enjoyed the entires on your list. With regards to Spinosaurus, I must say that it's become one of my top favorite theropods ever since its revision. The semi-quadrupedal stance is, in my opinion, quite fascinating! The creature now strikes me as something of an ancient sea-serpent! Thank you ever so much for sharing this with us! :)
EVAN123 - Now this is an interesting topic! Hmm, I'm of the opinion that Site-B is likely a biological preserve protected by the government and, as a result, off-limits to the public. That being said, perhaps Patel Corp has worked to reacquire Isla Sorna in order to utilize it as a "safari" location for high-paying guests. That could be extremely compelling! :)
Current cannon, If I believe, Is that Sorna still exists.
It was never bombed after JP3, However, Control, and protection of it, Most likely fell to the US Government (As they were the last to do anything on the island)
It could've been Sold to Patel when He bought out ingen...
Or, It could just... Be there, Not in use.
Another idea, Would be, That the Dinosaurs killed themselves out. Running out of food and such.
Hopefully, Colin adresses these holes in the cannon in the movie... If not... Well... -_-
eh, i don't get why some thought because it was semi-quadrupedal meant it weighed significantly less, the papers and new reconstructions don't suggest that at all..
Glad you liked it :) it's good to be back
I like the theropod tribute. Theropods are my favorite
Cool list Suprised at Spino, but the reasoning makes sense
Well, now that I think about it I think Hammond did say the government was now protecting the site, so...
Very cool list, I find it pretty easy to agree with. Looking forward to other future top 10s from you.
eh, That's not really my thing...
but, i've kicked around a few idea mainly;
Top 10 largest Ceratopsians
Top 10 largest Stegosaurs
Top 5 largest Dromaeosaurs..
...stuff like that
The Youtube user "lifeform306" or whatever he's called puts together some pretty cool tributes
Are you gonna make top 10 lists all the time?
Believe it or not, that suprised me a quite a bit too. I guess the semi quadrupedal/ semi aquatic lifestyle this thing lived offered it the grand oppurtunity to become more massive, as we all know water bound animals hae room to become a great deal heavier then their terrestrial counterparts - for example the whales. Even crocodile species for example; the more aquaticly bound species tend to be the more massive ones.
There's some new faces on that list, i'm quite pleased with how it turned out.
Well, I was a tad surprised that Spino made number 1 after the new finds, but, you have brought up some valid points. Interesting as with everything else you post Carno.
Interesting. That would be cool.
It's probably protected by the government. I wouldn't be surprised if Sorna makes a return in future movies.
looks good to me. Sinonithosaurus' venomous bite is questionable at this point, as the paleontologists seemed to have misinterpreted some things..overall good list TK
Edmarka is a neat creature, really.
Discovered in the early 90's by none other then Robert Bakker, Edmarka Rex was considered a giant from the get-go.
The problem with it though?
It's not too well known, and it's been disputed if this thing was just a large individual of Torvosaurus Tanneri or not.
However,Paleontologists working on indentiying the creature notedseveral features distinguishing it rom T. Tanneri; They distinguished their new species from Torvosaurus tanneri by features of the jugal bone, which shows both primitive and derived features. The scapula-coracoid, ribs, and pubis were also described.
Bakker et al. were impressed with the size of Edmarka, noting that it "would rival T. rex in total length," and viewing this approximate size as "a natural ceiling for dinosaurian meat-eaters." Megalosaurs are very heavily built creatures. one "rivaling Tyrannosaurus in length' would be a very sizeable creature.Scaling up a 9 meter T. Tanneri to ~12 meters yields roughly 6.67 tons in weight - on par with the average Tyrannosaurus individual.
This is my conclusion:
1- Hammond said at the end of The Lost World (BY the movie canon) that the animals were going to be left to breed.
2- Since he said that, the island could possibly be protected by the government.
3- If it isn't protected, then the animals are just normally breeding.
4- I assume the island will return in the supposed sequels of Jurassic World, since they said they were planning to make a whole new trilogy.
5- Since I read the books, I'm just guessing they just continue to do what they do, with some of them escaping onto the mainland.
Yeah, I wonder, although Masrani could quite possibly be using it as either a new park or a means if breeding/experimenting on the dinosaurs, gene splicing anyone?
i think its still might be a preserve and it might still be heavily protected. but thats just my guess
DAREN64 - Welcome to the forums! I personally believe that the inclusion of children within the film is designed to give younger audience members the chance to relate with the movie. As for my age, I'm 26! :)
SCIENCEDEGREE605 - From what I've been able to uncover as I've looked into this animal, it seems that there's a great deal of ambiguity with regards to it. According to most, the Edmarka is very likely a larger-than-average Torvosaurus. That being said, I believe (and this is simply an opinion I've formed based on three dissertations I've reviewed) there isn't yet enough information to make a solid hypothesis. Regardless, thank you ever so much for bringing this thought-provoking topic to us! :)
NOAH ECKECKENRODE - How very compelling! Thank you very much for sharing this with us! :)
id say there reliable they dont really like to spread rumors and he pretty much guessed it on accident
