It may be the same as Metricanthosaurus. I thought it had 3 fingers, but I could be wrong. It averaged closer to 26-29 ft long, but may have been able to get to 33, but I don't think it could get much bigger than that. Probably had a weight in the ballpark of 2 tons. Seems kind of lightly built to me. Probably to hit 25 miles per hour. Definitely an interesting and a pretty cool dinosaur.

my favorite dinosaur is by far the Velociraptor. but a herbivore hmmm... oh ya the stegosaurus. because it is the dumbest but the raptor is smart and vicious.
ReplyDeltadromeusDinosaurs ForumAbelisaurid Evolution ProposalJun 25, 2013
We can link the Ceratosaurus to the Herrerasaurs, the early dinosaur, they had four to five fingers.
ReplyDeltadromeusDinosaurs ForumT-Rex vs Spinosaurus BuildJun 25, 2013
Rotting meat is just bacteria eating the flesh, but if the current bacteria wasn't around back then, even if there was decomposing bacteria, it might not do any damage, the dinosaurs might not be affected in the slightest by the bactiria.

Allosaurus was only 35 feet long, I can think of other dinosaurs longer than that, the first is Yangchuanosaurus, the equal or slightly longer chinease cousin of Allosaurus, the rest, give me time.
ReplyDeltadromeusDinosaurs ForumAbelisaurid Evolution ProposalJun 25, 2013
Not all Ceratosaurus had four fingers, but most of the early dinosaurs did. Although, I think, and this is just a five second thought up theory, but maybe the Tyrannosaurs and Abelisaurs evolved from the same ancestor, and I'm not talking about the first dinosaurs. Or the Abelisaurs evolved from the Jurassic three clawed tyrannosaurs. Just my thoughts.
ReplyDeltadromeusDinosaurs ForumIdea about DilophosaurusJun 25, 2013
I wonder how hard people have studied Dilophosaurus teeth, and I was talking more about how the venom would just pour (or drip) into the mouth itself, not going through the teeth. It could be poisonous, we just don't know. And as for the size thing, a King Cobra doesn't need poison to kill the rodents it eats, but it makes it so much easier.
Replyfuturepaleontologist1Dinosaurs ForumAbelisaurid Evolution ProposalJun 25, 2013
Okay, but even so, what can we link Ceratosaurs to? Not saying I disagree with you, but I don't entirely agree either

Why did I figure that most people, not all but most, have T. rex as their favorite carnivore.
ReplyDeltadromeusDinosaurs ForumT-rex was bigger than originally thought!Jun 25, 2013
When I was younger, I though T. rex was ten tons, the technology sounds amazing, but how did they figure the growth of T. rex. There is very little in the juvenile and teenager fossil record.

Deinonycherius is a little uncertain as far as size goes. A lot of scientists reduced it's size to 33-36 ft long, not 40. It was still big though.
ReplyRex Fan 684Dinosaurs ForumAbelisaurid Evolution ProposalJun 25, 2013
I think the abelisaurs had more in common with the ceratosaurs then you realize. Both groups are known for having strange crest/horn structures on their heads. And both groups had 4 fingers. The reason the abelisaurs had them even though it was much later in the reign of the dinosaurs is because, not only were the size of their arms left behind, but they never dropped that extra digit. That's my theory at least. Early archosaurs are too distant in both familial connection and time.
ReplyRex Fan 684Dinosaurs ForumFavorite carnivore and herbivore?Jun 25, 2013
Tyrannosaurus is my all time favorite dinosaur in general. Favorite herbivore may be Camarasaurus. I like Edmontosaurus too.
ReplyRex Fan 684Dinosaurs ForumIdea about DilophosaurusJun 25, 2013
Remember, Dilo was over 20 ft in length. Even if it did not have a very strong bite, it was still big enough to take on most prey items. Especially since most of it's prey was not too big. Animals like Anchisaurus, which was less than 10 ft long.

In real life dilophasaurus wasn't poisonous, in the movie though there was a genetic mutation with the frog DNA,

My favorite dinosaur overall and carnivore is Carcharodontosaurus. Favorite herbivore is Shunosaurus
Replyfuturepaleontologist1Dinosaurs ForumIdea about DilophosaurusJun 25, 2013
Sounds similar to a monitor lizard or a Sinornithosaurus (sorry if Makaveli already said these things, I didn't read the comments). The Dilophosaur as a carnosaur though. The skull may not have been useful for gripping prey, but with a series of attacks, it could hunt quite efficiently without venom. That, and the crests were seprate from the rest of the skull. Valid point, but slightly unlikely

Cool theory! I like it. I'm going to research it some myself.

Spinosaurus or Tyrannosaurus and Eotriceratops.it was the biggest and baddest ceratopsian ever! No carnivore could possibly kill it.
ReplyNo longer activeDinosaurs ForumThe Horror MouthJun 25, 2013
I remember reading about this somewhere. It only had a crappy picture, though. Yours is better. Its scientific name was similar to Baryonyx, I think.

Dilophosaurus vs Herrerasaurus! Blast from the past as a reminder of the first DinoFight.
ReplyMakaveli7Dinosaurs ForumIdea about DilophosaurusJun 25, 2013
Interesting.... Could be, but the crests wouldn't be practical for that. If it was venomous, then it would likely have grooves in its teeth to collect and channel the venom like Sinornithosaurus. I see it as possible, but not probable. I could see it happening though.

My favorite carnivore is Giganotosaurus, I think. I'd have to say my favorite herbivore is Parasaurolophus. It has been ever since I was a few years old.
ReplyMakaveli7Dinosaurs ForumThe Horror MouthJun 25, 2013
It does, but I can't remember what the name was. The teeth are 8 inches long at the longest, if I remember correctly.

Yes, but I not included Deinocherius due to massive uncertains about it.

My favourite carnivore (and creature in general) is T-Rex (non-Rex/Spino is Albertasaurus or Utahraptor). My fave herbivore is Stegosaurus.
ReplyLord VaderDinosaurs ForumT-Rex vs Spinosaurus BuildJun 25, 2013
If the bite was septic, which it likely was due to rotting meat between the teeth, It would increase the chance of a bite from Rex getting infected, which would weaken the bitten dinosaur, and in time, kill it if the Rex hasn't already.
ReplyDeltadromeusDinosaurs ForumTop 10 Longest TheropodsJun 25, 2013
What about Dienochierus, it was estimated to be at least fourty feet long.
ReplyDeltadromeusDinosaurs ForumT-Rex vs Spinosaurus BuildJun 25, 2013
Just throwing my idea out there about T. rex, but its bite dosn't have to be sceptic, the current bactiria that Komodo Dragons have might not have been around 65 million years ago. But Ivan if it was, the is a chance that is doesn't hurt dinosaurs at all.
ReplyGigadinoDinosaurs ForumTop 10 Longest TheropodsJun 25, 2013
Mapusuarus is longer than Giga too. Here's a pervic girdle 10 % larger than those of MUPCv-ch1, so 2 % larger than those of the largest Giga know, MUPCv-95. And Acrocanthosaurus was 11.5m.

ReplyMakaveli7Dinosaurs ForumTop ten ocean predators of all timeJun 24, 2013
The Liopleurodon length came from BBC. It is now considered among the most inaccurate information ever put into a documentary. The size estimate came from the Monster of Aramberri specimen that was found. It was approximately 40 feet long, but was apparently a juvenile eaten by a much larger individual. They are now considered different species. Perhaps this will show you how inaccurate that size is.

Real Lio was the size of BBC's Lio's head. I don't doubt that monster of Aramberri adults were over 50 feet, but 80+ is a stretch. Just sayin, not hatin. Just trying to inform you.
