Good job with this, i see you went all out.

I'd back an allosaurid over an abelisaur any day of the week, really.

One again, amazing job..i think i was part of the FBR team at one point, not too sure what happened with that but oh well, you have my vote. I'd give this a 9/10; one of your best yet

Because there IS no fight you actually made, we will after there is actually a fight posted, in this case its merely just showing the contestants.

Actually thats the case with most animals that have those accesories, like the thorned lizard, which is simply most of the time more of a "do i look appetizing to you?" kind of thing.

In my 50/50 scenario, That's not even resulting in death(for the rex anyway) Most times, a Tyrannosaurus wouldn't be able to get at the underbelly of this thing, and there's no way i see it flipping the anky over. Anky's defenses were more deterents then ofenssive defense, it's tail is disproportionally short in retrospect to its body, and while i haven't read anything on the range of motion the ankylosaurus' tail had, i doubt it was very signifigant.

Why don't you guys comment on the fight.

CarnosaurDinosaurs ForumSaurophaganax vs oxalia

Saurophaganax was greatly exaggerated in its size. Quite shocked i haven't covered this guy yet..huh..

Anyways, scaling up from big al(Allosaurus Fragilis) we would get ~ 5 tons, 11 meters. That's not conservative either, that's a median size between two extremes, and calculations kind of prove that number out.

Oxalaia really is too fragmentary to get a size off of, but the jaw fragments we do have point to a Suchomimus sized spinosaur, in other words: 35 feet in length, 4/5 tons.

Lastly, Edmontosaurus Annectens was in the 25 - 30 foot range. Maybe a few feet bigger, as we have subadults 28 feet long. (USNM 2414, YPM2182)

Honestly, it's very doubtful for me to even come close to concluding that those sizes are realistic, even for large individuals. Namely because these two theropod groups were lighter built then other theropod families. this being less extreme in the spinosaurs.

CarnosaurDinosaurs ForumPrimordial World: dawn of an empire

All dinosaurs evolved from the thecodonts, a group of rather primative reptiles that dominated the landscape up until the mid triassic. From there, a sub group began to take shape, diverging from the thecodonts into swift lightly built carnivores and the odd omnivore.

This is a global series, right? as in the dinosaurs that were alive at that time all over the earth?

Well, i've got a few that haven't been mentioned yet..

Massospondylus carinatus

Lesothosaurus diagnosticus

 Liliensternus liliensterni

Halticosaurus longotarsus

Well, i suppose if it could get ahold of its neck, it wouldnt have to worry about getting hit by its tail, which ultimately means the end for Anky due to having no protection under its neck, and the armor on top of its head and neck would amplify the damage under its neck.

CarnosaurDinosaurs ForumCretaceous Carnage #4

that got...random..

Well, this was a predator/ prey relationship. Anky got more defensively built as the years rolled by in the thousands/ millions, and rex developed bone crushing dentition. Though the prey of choice was probably hadrosaurs(Edmontosaurus regalis), Tyrannosaurus wouldn't pass one of these guys up because it has the weaponry to deal with it. But, do take into effect most land predators today have a ~30% of actually capturing and killing their prey, so this isn't going to be an easy meal in more then one way.

I'd have to say50/50 with the slight edge to the anky.

So what? I just stated the max sizes! Also why don't you ever proof read your fights for typos it makes it impossible to read if you don't. and Edmontosaurus weight is ussualy placed at 4 tons max.

Reply
Tyrant kingDinosaurs ForumSaurophaganax vs oxalia

its a LARGE MALE for BOTH sspecies

and the edmontosaurs is between an adult and teenager .

Reply
Hiphopananomus Dinosaurs ForumSaurophaganax vs oxalia

Well. This isn't a fight...

also were are you geting those sizes!?

The highest estimates for sauro are 40 feet and 5-6 tons and these are frowned upon by many people... And Oxalaias highest estimates are 4-5 tons and 40-42 feet long which 5 tons is also frowned upon. Also I'm not even going to start on a 35 foot long 4 ton subadult Edmontosaurus.
